Did both days, somehow felt today's flying was in a different class compared to yesterday. Guess wind had a lot to do with it. Bhhh 3 ship and solo left me very disappointed yesterday but today was great. Really enjoyed PdF

No problems with parking. No traffic straight on site at 830 yesterday and same at 855 today. Probably 1/2 hour to get out of site but roads clear as soon as we were off.

Nice to see plenty of open crowd line and the corporate tents off to the side.

Whoever was selling those inflatable bed things must have made a packet at £25 a time given the number I saw!

Well done to all the organisers for putting on a fantastic show.

What bus did you come on a flying one?

The 320 it took 25 mins Bromley South each way. Think that's pretty reasonable and much better than expected plus only waited like 5 minutes for the bus both ways which helps.
Planned Shows for 2022 - Midlands air festival, Cosford, Weston, Southport, Riat, Blackpool, Bournemouth

Crazy! you must have been early as i got on at Bromley South at 10:20 and had to get off half an hour in! You wasn't wearing a hammers top by any chance?

Fantastic day today. Arrived at about 9.30 & drove straight in. All the displays were good but the standouts would have to be the F-16, Hind/Hip duo, the Hind solo (added due to the RNLAF spitfire not making it) & the Spitfire solo, which for me really stole the show & was a great way to end. Was also great to have the additional movements of aircraft going to Eastbourne. Commentary was good, not too intrusive with just the odd bit of info as the aircraft were re-positioning. It was just the PdF commentator that was poor, really sounded like he didn't want to be there.
Left straight after the display & joined one of the many individual lines that were converging on the gate. To the credit of the parking attendants though, they were directing all the lines through very efficiently & we were out in about half an hour, really not bad at all considering we were quite close to the front of the car park.
Nice for Biggin to have some half decent weather after the last couple of years, although it did darken up a bit at the end and the rain started at about 6, so luck was well & truly on our side today.

Gave us all great amusement watching people trying to put them up though!

Totally agree .Only difference was it took 2 hours to get out! Still good to see Biggin has got some of its old magic back.
Just one complaint though. PLEASE could the funfair not play music and shout "everybody scream" at full volume all day!
Favourite display, the Mil helo duo closely followed by the F16.Thanks to all and see you next year.

Fantastic day! Biggin back at it's best, and rediscovered my "buzz" after the flat feeling RIAT had left me with. Easy traffic in ,and only a slight delay to exit.
Good range of stalls, lovely weather, "Gizmo" in the F16 gave probably the best display i have ever seen him give. Czech Helicopters were so so refreshing and different, and that Mi35 scheme! Patrouille De France, were better than the Reds for my money, and with so much more flair. Other stand out display's being the Bronco, and the Gripen.
Added extra's having aircraft moving to and from other displays to. Looking forward to next year...

Hopefully the coordination with Eastbourne (and Herne Bay? Don't know next year's date) becomes a regular fixture as it surprisingly added a lot seeing the Typhoon and F16 take off twice! On Saturday both did run and breaks to land too.

Does anyone know departure times tomorrow?

Great day (did take 1hr to travel last 7min into the airfield!)but parked up and perched just in time for Czech SAR display,so all good.
Highlights were the above duo/solo display ,F16,and a rare outing for the(new)FAF Hercules (made a change from a C160),which arrived in support for PDF on Sunday morning, selling reasonably priced merchandise I might add unlike the extortionate prices at RIAT!
Weather stayed dry right until the end which was a bonus, roll on next year.

Yep, a very good day from me too. As Tankbuster81 said, I too thought the Belgian F-16 was outstanding, the P de F flat show surprisingly interesting, the Czech
contingent brilliant. Really hope Biggin is back on the calendar as a regular again!

I was at Eastbourne on Saturday then stayed overnight in Horley for Biggin. The commentary at Biggin was better, but that's not saying much these days as George Bacon, perhaps the seafronts are where he is best suited, announced the Typhoon like an approaching spacecraft, overstating how noisy it will be and you might want to run away and hide in a cellar with your fingers in your ears or seek immediate medical advice or whatever, but Lingy or Mingy or whatever his handle is, managed to surpass even 'Crispy' with his over the top designed for children's Christmas parties style introduction of the Red Arrows. You know the way Father Christmas is brought to the attention of the little shavers, someone special has just arrived boys and girls!

Regarding Biggin Hill, I'm not happy with the new ponderous way of an official nod to security succeeding in simply generating a queue, perhaps its the whole point. We British love to queue. We also had the unwelcoming 'oye watch it' Security Officer doing a not too bad impersonation of an old style RSM. Not politely advising the punters that only some bags will be searched but shouting out an order as if he can't help being angry with everyone, as if we've been told a thousand times already. The other thing was that about half of the airfield, always utilised to accommodate parking, exhibits, catering and the public in days gone by, was fenced off?! I never thought I'd long for the Biggin Hill Air Fair of just seven years ago, when you could still drive on and be directed to park anywhere on the airfield, just not the part already in use as the showground, flightline, static etc. Then you could walk straight in and mingle, no queueing like a bunch of National Servicemen queueing for their arrival at Basic Training kitting out and haircut. Otherwise, the flying content was good, if like everywhere else, much reduced, how do they manage to stretch a 16 item flying programme to nearly five hours?? :dizzy:
At one time a flying display of as many as 40 separate display items could be contained inside that. One more thing, I forgot how the London FIR imposes such a squeeze on the upper display flying level over Biggin. Apparently, a similar trial was going on over Eastbourne on Friday but to not quite the same devastating effect. But it seems that Eastbourne too, may possibly be subject to at least a partial imposition of a lower display ceiling, nausing up whatever the weather can't manage to.

I shall watch closely the build up of flying content between Eastbourne and Biggin Hill next year, it will take a lot to get me to forsake the former for the latter.

FB
I have danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings!

Fantastic day at Biggin Hill Yesterday! Felt like a return of the old Biggin Hill Air Fair

Highlights:
Czech Combat Search and Rescue Demonstration by the Hip/ Hind
Czech Gripen
Czech Solo Hind demo
Patrouille de France - I think the change of music must have been for their american tour, hopefully they will be back to their normal music next year, and I hope they change their commentator too!
Belgian F16 - super display, shame it couldn't use flares at Biggin but could at Eastbourne even for its low show
The first takeoff by the Typhoon was great

No gaps in the display, no fillers, quality over quantity, was great to see the Reds/ F16/ Typhoon take off and land multiple times!
No queues for food/ toilets
No problem getting in, getting out took about 30 mins

Lowlights:
The airspace restriction not allowing full/ rolling displays by the teams/ fast jets - I can remember the Su27s of the Test Pilots doing 'bells' at previous shows

I know it was short but hopefully this will mark the return of the Biggin Hill Air Fair with its 11am - 6pm flying displays!

Everyone seems to be forgetting that he was commentating on a twenty-odd minute display in a second language.
He also wasn't the teams usual commentator and was probably outside his comfort zone.

Personally I thought he did a good job. Give the bloke a break.
I only wish I could speak another language as well as he could.

Credit to him for using English (not sure Lingy could commentate in French for example) but he could have sounded a bit more enthusiastic! Not to Turkish Stars levels though!

I noticed them after some close up photos.

Does anyone know if they are just decals or holes? They do look odd, I wouldn't have thought they were bullet holes. I have seen decals that look very much the same.

Interesting that at Biggin Hill last weekend the Red Arrows displayed on the same axis as everyone else i.e. along the runway, over the built up area, just as they did at Yeovilton but had different axis alignments for Cosford and Duxford and were unable to display last year at Farnborough.

So who is the joker making these rules? Is it the RAF? Is it the Red Arrows? Or is it the individual display directors? Because I can't see why they could perform their normal show at Biggin Hill but not at Cosford or Farnborough and why they could overfly Yeovilton village but not Duxford.

Gripen, two Hinds, Hit and C-295. Taking it with a pinch of salt until they're formally added (and even then, as we know from Biggin 2010, that isn't the end of the story!) but if it all works out, that's a commendably strong commitment!

Indeed. Just seen the listing here: https://airshowinfo.hu/hirek/en/item/38 ... -2017.html

Camo Hinds might tempt me back to Biggin. If they send that ghastly Alien thing, not so fussed.

How prescient
