Duxford September Bimbles ~ *UPDATE 2~19Sep17*
The weather was a bit iffy at the start of the day with low cloud/fog/mist enveloping Duxford. Fortunately by late morning it started to clear and by early afternoon it was blue sky and sunshine and very warm. Highlight of the day was the visiting Breitling DC-3 that had stopped off at Duxford on its round the world tour and was due to leave for Biggin Hill. Many thanks to the crew for the close up access. Spitfire TD314 flew off to Headcorn and N3200 and PV202 were flying their usual with Classic Wings. Photos in the order taken.

Re: Duxford September Bimbles ~ *UPDATE 1~06Sep17*
A busy day at Duxford. The Fighter Collection were out to play as some of their aircraft are off to Goodwood for the weekend and pilots were getting in some aerobatic practice. The Anglia Aircraft Restorations aircraft were on the move to Sywell as they are flying at the Victory Show at Cosby at the weekend. TF-51D/'Miss Velma' was briefly outside before being packed into a container for it's journey to Fighter Rebuilders at Chino for a rebuild following the off airfield landing during the Flying Legends air show. There were quite a few GA visitor but there were three that caught my eye. In the order taken.

This close to an air show I wasn't expecting it to be busy, and it wasn't. PV202 was passenger flying, TFC's Hawk 75 went up for a handling flight and some aerobatics and the Wildcat was also due to fly as was the HAC Hurricane. Amongst the GA visitors was some oldies but goldies like a very pretty 1942 Stinson V77 Gullwing/NC50238, a 1948 Aeronca 15AC/G-AREX and a bit more up to date 1959 Focke Wulf (Piaggio) P-149D/D-EARY. In the order taken.

Re: Duxford September Bimbles ~ *UPDATE 2~19Sep17*
I only realised when I visited Duxford on the 9th and saw that they were about to put a four bladed prop on the 2 seat Sea Fury that it's had it's Centaurus replaced by an American engine - I thought the rocker covers looked odd in Brian's picture, but the penny didn't drop.
Such a pity, but I guess the Centaurus is much more expensive to maintain (and less reliable?) than the big, well proven and plentiful US radials. I wonder whether this is a precursor to passenger flights being offered in a Sea Fury?

I was told they were putting the American lump on so they can fly the aircraft until the British lump is fixed and then that will be going back on.
On the subject of Sea Fury's - FB.11, ex G-BWOL, was registered as G-SEAF on the 7th September 2017 to Patina Ltd.

Do like that Stinson Reliant, it was at one of the Compton Abbas Fly-in's on 17th June this year.

I think it lives at Compton Abbas.
