Is the sun really that terrible for flying display shots?

Can you shoot takeoff and landing as well as display or are they too far apart?

Weather is not terrible http://forums.airshows.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=74830&p=748524&hilit=jersey#p748524 It does depend on where you posistion yourself.

Display is over St. Aubin's Bay, so no take off of landing shots.

I'm hoping they can slot in something to make up for the lack of the BBMF

Timetable up on the website.... features A400 flypast (assuming that aircraft isn't off to the Caribbean?) and a Learjet.

Couple of nice formations for the French and Swedes prior to their solos.

I expect the weather to mean a BBMF no-show though.

Updated to Version 3. Learjet and A400M removed, Gnat added.

Despite battling strong winds all day I've thoroughly enjoyed another excellent JIAD. Congratulations to the aircrews for flying in such blustery conditions, especially the light aircraft. And the organisers who were changing the programme to keep everything running smoothly.

Yes a terrific display in very difficult conditions; not surprisingly neither the Seastar or the Skydive displays were able to do other than a purely flying display. Loved the French trio and the Swedish team. Sadly I think the Bees were not able to put on a full display, I was very glad to have been at the static display the night before, where they did a superb split above the airport on their validation run.

Loved the Draken, got to see a flying Lansen . A visit to Jersey is worth it for the flying Swedes alone. Forgot how big an Alize is.
BTW, was the Castle open?

I'm fairly certain not, the landing craft thingies were up on the road level all day and the commentators were commenting that there were no boats allowed in the bay either so I doubt they would have allowed access to the castle.

Can anyone tell me where the display line is at Jersey? is it curved so it doesn't go over the land or is it straight and clips the edges of the bay?

The 230m display does curve at either end to follow the bay. The new(ish) Radisson Hotel is an avoid and the other parts of the marina etc are briefed as no overflight below 812ft (there's a 312ft Chimney within that area if you are wondering about the specific number!)
