Posts on Milscanners have another flight of SJ F-15s inbound Lakenheath -- only 3, as 2 apparently aborted & diverted to Gander

so with the b1s being at Fairford, can those who have experience of catching them departing advise if they leave at a regular time of the day and return at roughly the same point?

Sorry for the questions but desperate to see a b1 take off again following many airshows without that happening.

Just wondering if the Notam is for say 8.30am do they tend to leave at just after that or is it varied times?

Thanks, Jeff

If you go on to Fighter Control you tend to get more detail about notam timings and take off/recovery times; there are no hard and fast patterns but earlier this year the B-1s were tending to go off between 6 and 8 in the morning and return between 3 and 4.

Granted they've only been there a couple of days, but this doesn't appear to have been the smoothest deployment.
Of the 2 B-2s deployed, one has gone tech.
Unless I've missed it, a C-5 which arrived there on Friday is still there as that too has gone tech.
The Fairford gremlins have obviously been busy

As for the departure times compared to the NOTAM times, so far you can probably add an hour on to get the actual take-off time ( so an 08:00hrs NOTAM start would have the B-1 departing at 09:00hrs )
And you'll no doubt notice that the NOTAM doesn't tell you which specific runway they'll be using, it'll just say 'RWY 09/27 OPEN'

Six more F-22s due into LN today too, sometime after 3pm according to a post on FC.

Wonder which way they'll bring them ?

And I see that today's Fairford NOTAM was just for the arrival of a Kalitta B-747, according to the 'Fairford Movements' site.
RON, or departing later ?

Should be the remaining 6 from the FFs already there, so coming up from "the sandpit" via Italy and France.

Reports on FC that departing jets at LN have been warned about a possible recall due to the gusting winds though, so maybe the Raptors will scrub? I would imagine they'd be well on their way by now but I've not seen anything on FC to say they are?

No NOTAM for today, yet.

Possibly having a day off after their late finish yesterday ( or early hours of this morning, to be more accurate )

Things up, after some delays.
Debatable what's up, how many, and what callsign is in use....it may be that there are different types of things up, hence the different callsigns. :ninja:

Or less secret-squirrely....
There's at least one B-1 up - FC say only one, posts on Milscanners say both.
FC say it's using the callsign BONE, Milscanners say they're using the callsign MYTEE.....if BONE is the callsign, MYTEE is obviously something else.
AAR with a QUID tanker may or may not be involved - FC makes no mention, Milscanners posts do.

:dizzy:

NOTAM hasn't been amended despite the late departure.

Mytee is being used by B-52s which departed the USA in the early hours and are reportedly heading to the ranges in the Netherlands (same place as the B1 apparently according to posts on Twitter).

Credit to AN521 on Twitter "MYTEE51 (#USAF B-52's) now heading for the D4 area, otherwise known as the Cornfield range. Now switched to Bandbox CRC."

That'll explain the tanker(s) as well, then.....I did think it odd that the B-1s were reportedly AARing.

It's RTB should be interesting, though, as the METAR for Fairford is currently
EGVA 181416Z AUTO 05006KT 4400 BR OVC003 11/10 A2982 RMK AO2 SLP102

( Or translated, visibility of just under 3 miles, mist & overcast cloud deck at 300 feet AGL )
And to make it more interesting, there's a NOTAM out for
RWY 09 RUNWAY END IDENTIFIER LIGHTS OUT OF SERVICE

A one hour duration.....either it's not B-1 related or it's for a departure only & the return will be NOTAMed later.
