Great news for all involved, looking forward to seeing it fly! Quite a piece of kit with an interesting history.

Here's a pretty awesome photo of it earlier in the autumn (I didn't take it) against the mother of all dramatic skies.

Great news. Is the 2 seat 109 still over here as well? Last I heard it was due to display at Headcorn in the summer but didn't (can't remember why not). The BHHH 109 didn't make it up this year either did it?

In my opinion, it's a shame the restoration didn't include returning it to it's original colour scheme instead of the fake Luftwaffe one.
No doubt the usual suspects will disagree

I have some sympathy with this especially as it may need to be 'sold to airshow organisers' to finance its upkeep. However at some stage it would be great to see it in Spanish colours and as a very interesting historic aircraft in its own right.

It's for passenger flights. What would you rather fly next to a Spitfire in, an aircraft in Spanish markings or one in Luftwaffe markings?.

If it was just to fly alongside a Spitfire, most punters likely wouldn't care if it was painted pink with yellow spots.
As a solo aircraft, whilst your average Joe Public would probably prefer the latter, I'd have thought 'plane geeks' would prefer the former.
Are there actually any airworthy HA-1112s in their proper colour schemes, or are they all fake Lufty schemes ?
If not, it's about time someone had the cojones to do so.......after all, the BBMF can manage to paint it's Spitfire PRXIXs in their proper ( non-cammo ) colours.

Annnd....leave one in non-descript dark primer for a Season, representing a lack of money/interest in painting it!

Or maybe that the season's bookings and availability of other aircraft (such as the MkIX being in for major and the lack of at least one XIX) in the flight made it sensible to put it in for paint at the end of the season rather than being unable to fulfil display commitments?

Money is the biggest factor, or rather a lack of it. They have had their budget from the council slashed quite considerably, they are just not bleeting about it.

Its surely to sell a 'fly in a 'Messerschmitt'' experience rather than 'fly alongside a Spitfire', although I'm sure there'll be a dogfight experience on offer. I can't see it doing that many airshows. But boy is that one ugly aeroplane. What a munter.

Not as ugly as the 'double bubble' 2-seater Spitfires

Maybe its time one of those had a Dark Earth/Dark Green/weird non-standard pale blue scheme with "AI" squadron codes to dogfight with these film star Buchons then!

I'm not sure council money goes towards the upkeep of an aircraft on the military register.
