It doesn't attract enthusiasts for things that can be seen at multiple shows around the country in better photographic conditions for less than the £34 earlybird or £42 in advance ticket price FIA are asking... for the public days.

So your assuming that everyone attending the show is an enthusiast ! ?

If the Sikorsky CH-53K follows up Berlin with Farnborough, it might be worth a trip.

This is the very first layout plan, they get updated monthly - the area Airbus usually dominate still shows the 2016 aircraft at the moment :-)

Just downloaded the plan, any idea what the different shading colours represent?

Bizzareley I was just looking at that plan and trying to work out if they had just used the aircraft layout from the last show? There are a couple of new bits like the 757F, Seaking and MRJ so must be a new one.

Airbus A350-200

Andy

Is the -200 a typo on the A350 line? There are A350-900 and A350-1000 variants currently, and a not-yet-built A350-800 (with very few orders).

Thanks

Self confirmation by the Flying Bulls...

Appears to be a 4 ship of the B-25, P-38, Corsair and an Alpha Jet.

Sadly 2016 was my first FIA that I willingly didn’t attend ,after the jet fest of RIAT I just couldn’t work up the enthusiasm to go and saved my pennies, the debacle of the Reds ,combined with a stale and lack lustre line up put this seasoned attendee off, whether I decide to attend this year is yet to be decided but my gut instinct will be why have a McDonald’s for dinner when I have just finished a 5 course lunch!!

2016 was my first visit to FIA. Whilst there was a few eye opening moments, most notably the Airbus demo There wasnt realy enough to tempt me back again.. I may do yet..but so far theres nothing unique at Farnborough this time around. Riat i am investing the thick end of a week on though..

The confusing thing about FIA Public Days is that the 'Great & Good' don't belong to Forums & rely on years-past experience or lavish modern advertising to make their attendance commitment. Most will have no idea about just how untenable Farnborough is as an 'Air-show' venue, or that the more interesting items from the Trade show will have left already!
On the Sunday of the last FIA the 'Reds' flew past with the A400 Atlas, if I had a Pound for everybody that asked when they were coming back to display I could buy Day Tickets for us all ?? (maybe instead of doing Community Service?)
When I said they were halfway back to Scampton & the reason why, both Kids & Parents went into meltdown! It suddenly dawned on them that a major-league fleecing had occurred, but only a few actually burst a blood vessel once they knew the Full Monty was still available for a nominal outlay at Eastbourne or Bournemouth.
If FIA treat their Public in that way, then the days of the 'Weekend for the Great Unwashed' is surely over & rightly so!....but just possibly that's the Business Plan in essence?

Hmmm, Cessna Bird Dog. It'll be so small in the sky due to distance & height rules you'll need powerful binoculars to see it!

True. Although historic enthusiasts might like a Bird Dog, to be frank it's only really suitable for displaying at smaller venues and would be completely lost on a general public audience at somewhere the size of Farnborough. Just my personal opinion but it seems a weird choice to me.

A Bird dog at FIA is like having baked beans with your Sunday roast. The two are just incompatible.

I'm really not sure what planet the organisers are on. Enthusiasts might give the Bird dog a glance but most of the FIA crowd are going to be bored witless by a flying speck.
