Happy Birthday Lindy!

Post by ianf »

The 28th December 1961, a brand new Victor B 2 made her maiden flight, piloted by Mr P. Baker the flight began at 12.20 pm and lasted 1 hour 20 minutes. 56 years later she is known as Lindy to her team and owner Andre Tempest, who is rapidly homing in on owning her longer than the Air force!. Of the 5 remaining air frames only 2 are capable of movement. Lindy is the most complete Victor and possibly the most complete V bomber left (although I have no doubt Vulcans XM655 and XL426 may disagree!) Long may she continue!

Thank you all who follow and support us, it is appreciated. Anyone near York on Saturday pop into the museum, we are subject to weather, going to do a wet and dry anti det run. That involves spinning the engines with and without fuel, without starting them. There will still be a bit of noise, as to do the above we start our Artouste which is our APU and being a jet itself makes some noise! Plus all our control will be exercised. We are looking forward to a busy 2018!
Thanks for looking.

Hi John your more than welcome to add that picture. Its the first time I've seen the 100 Sqn stickers that was on for a while. The outline of these are still seen on the under wing tanks today.
Reheat what trade did you do? I'm hoping your were a worker, ie not aircrew

Hi Ian
Sooty by trade (Conways and AAPP), as well as those 13 fuel tanks.
Always a great feeling hitting that 'Combust' button...
