Northolt closures

Post by jules48 »

Can anyone give a reason why Northolt is closed so often.Reasons given are power outages, military operations etc.And now it appears before they can repair the runway a crashed Hurricane has to be removed.Seems like they are trying to dissuade civil movement's which seems to be the main moan of local residents

More worryingly is the crashed Hurricane what more and more importantly is the pilot safe?

Apparently it was a Spitfire in 1942 and was removed at the time.
Sorry getting duff information from local residents

Not sure if Northolt is manned by civil or military for ATC.

Still seems a lame excuse considering the number of daily movements.

For example open yesterday and today but closed last Thursday and Friday and tomorrow and Tuesday. It seems strange they can provide ATC for weekends but not during week when it is substantially busier.
