Hi chaps,
Following on from Chernoye, thought I would cover Khodinka as well. Another collection of airframes well past their best.
Visited here first back in 1993 when it was a proper museum, laid out next to the old airport terminal, and it was quite a collection.
A sudden impromptu visit here again in 2012 brought a mixture of emotions : glad to be back, but sad to see what's happened to the collection.
When I saw the state of some of these, didn't know whether to be more horrified, or fascinated with the strange photo opportunities it brought.
As of 2016, I have heard that the whole site had been redeveloped and the aircraft would have been cleared. Anyone know anything more.......??
First up, Mil Mi-6 with a tonne of graffiti.......a few months later, it was unceremoniously bulldozed away

Rare Mil Mi-24A, don't see many of those original cockpits
IMG_9396 by Rupert Kelley, on Flickr
More familiar Mil Mi-24D. I believe the modern building behind is the new national ice hockey stadium
IMG_9399 by Rupert Kelley, on Flickr
Yakovlev Yak-25M, the last of several that were here. The rest were all scrapped years ago due to severe corrosion
IMG_9401 by Rupert Kelley, on Flickr
Sukhoi Su-17M4 with graffiti. The whole site must have been quite exposed at some stage to anyone so inclined.....
IMG_9403 by Rupert Kelley, on Flickr
Mikoyan-G Mig-25P......love those Foxbats, but not in this state
IMG_9405 by Rupert Kelley, on Flickr
Mikoyan-G Mig-23M unusually in grey (and purple?), not camoflage
IMG_9407 by Rupert Kelley, on Flickr
Mikoyan-G Mig-23B duck nose prototype. Really hope this one has escaped destruction
IMG_9409 by Rupert Kelley, on Flickr
Mikoyan-G Mig-29 from the original production batch
IMG_9412 by Rupert Kelley, on Flickr
Mikoyan-G Mig-25PDS fighter variant
IMG_9413 by Rupert Kelley, on Flickr
To complement that, Mig-25RBV recon version
IMG_9414 by Rupert Kelley, on Flickr
Mikoyan-G Mig-23
IMG_9415 by Rupert Kelley, on Flickr
most of Mikoyan-G Mig-21PF
IMG_9418 by Rupert Kelley, on Flickr
Sukhoi T-10-20 prototype for Su-27, looking far too modern for this sort of place
IMG_9419 by Rupert Kelley, on Flickr
Sukhoi Su-15, would've love to see one of these fly
IMG_9423 by Rupert Kelley, on Flickr
Sukhoi Su-15UT in pink. It's unlikely there's a Mary reading this, but if there is : this photo is dedicated to you.......aaaah, bless
IMG_9420 by Rupert Kelley, on Flickr
Sukhoi Su-17M3 with no graffiti, so slightly boring really
IMG_9426 by Rupert Kelley, on Flickr
Aero L-29 Delfin looking like it just wants to die
IMG_9435 by Rupert Kelley, on Flickr
Lastly, Mil Mi-4 with no identity or colours........an appropriately sad and lost way to end a very sad and lost post. RIP Khodinka

That's all from me. Slightly depressing, but interesting all the same. Can't be happy and shiny all the time !! Just hope some of them survived.....
Happy snapping chaps,
Rupe

Looking at google earth, there’s sadly no airframes there at all now
The airport has an il-62 on a stick, and nearby there are 3 civil airframes right outside the N.E. corner of the airfield.

Got to love Russianhardware

I’d love to visit somewhere like that .
What a collection of airframes , it strange that not all countries have the same reverence for historic aircraft as Britain has.
According to Wikipedia many of the airframes were moved to Lukhovitsy where MIG have a plant.

I like these photographs a lot.
On one hand its a shame of the state of the airframes, but there is a part of me (the modeller part) that really likes the weathered look.

You've got to hope the T-10 made it out safe as well.

Some of the earlier exhibits (Yak-28P, Yak-38 etc) went first to the Yakovleb OKB museum - and are now at the Zadorozhni museum..... (along with MiG-21SMT, Mig-27/29, Su-15 etc)
http://www.flankers-site.co.uk/mos2013_day04.html (scroll down about halfway).
The rest have been scrapped AFAIK
Khodynka used to be the best aviation museum in Moscow in the 1990's - because it had lots of ex-operational machine - unlike Monino, which had lots of one-off prototypes.
It wasn't that many years ago that it was an active airfield - the prototype Il-38 took off from Khodynka not too long ago - before the high-rise apartments started to encroach....
All the OKB's (Design Bureaux) were clustered around Khodynka (Sukhoi, Mikoyan, Ilyushin etc - Yakovlev were a bit further away, but near)
This from 2008.....

I visited in 2012 too, and like you found it sad but fascinating.
Returned in 2014 and everything had gone.
