Erickson Air-Crane "Goliath" Aberdeenshire **Updated**

Post by Calum »

"Goliath" has been in country since the start of January assisting with the construction of electricity pylons. Sadly, poor weather delayed the project and it has only been flying since the 2nd of Feb. I managed to spend a few hours photographing it today as it did it's work. It's some machine to watch operating, surprisingly nimble and not nearly as loud as I'd thought.

Thank you for all the comments so far. I'll be sure to post them in the working helicopters thread! I believe that the helo is heading to meet a ship on Monday to be transported back to the states.

Its been working in the Huntly/Dufftown area. I have heard that it has more that proved its worth and should be back over the next few years.

Great to see some shots of it working. Is it joining the ship at Montrose as per its arrival?

Wow never though you would ever see a Skycrane in the UK, must be 40 years since the last visit. Before my time but I think one visited Middle wallop in the early 70's.

Thanks once again for all the comments. "Goliath" arrived in the port of Montrose this afternoon for onward transport back to the US. Thankfully I managed to make it down to capture the arrival. Weather was great and the crew obliged with a couple of low passes prior to landing.
