Skeeter G-SARO

Post by alanp »

Todays oldie is another favourite of mine - Saunders-Roe Skeeter G-SARO. A regular in the sky over Scotland in the late seventies and early eighties, based at Dalcross it would drop in to Dundee for fuel en route south to various shows. Francis Chamberlain often displayed her at Strathallan, starting with the trade mark "cough" as the Gipsy Major was brought to life by a stater cartridge. Despite it's limited performance, Francis always made the most of this wonderful venue, disapearing over the fence into the dip beyond the runway only to reamerge seconds later traveling the opposite direction - happy days.

Looks a bit like a Peel P50 converted into a helicopter.
