Hopefully some rich bloke will buy it and convert it into a single seater for his own personal pleasure

Which would be the very definition of irony.

The ghastly One-Faux-Nines would be more tolerable if they were properly painted, and not in some wretched fake Luftwaffe schemes, but the two seater really is a whole new branch of the ugly tree.

Looks miles better than the 2-seater Spitfires.
But then, I liked the 2-seater Fw190 too.

Assuming that this aircraft has as little historical value as Pegs, perhaps someone could paint this up as a Battle of Britain Hurricane and save BE505 from going under the knife. Eveyone's a winner.

Apart from being flown by Adolf Galland & Robert Stanford-Tuck and being the sole surviving factory built dual control Hispano HA-1112 Buchon and if you look carefully can be seen in the Battle of Britain movie, it has very little historic value.

Hmm, I don't think any of those things is really enough to save it from something inappropriate being done. Slap some roundels on it! Once someone is sat in the back they'll barely know the difference.

Compared to the iconic Spitfire, what is the demand to fly in a Buckon?

"What did you do for your birthday?"

"I took a ride in a Spitfire." or

"I took a ride in a Buchon."

That's the thing, as far as the outside world and a vast majority of potential punters is concerned, its an ME109, because that's what they'll be told it is.

Riding in one strays too far into the dark side for me personally, a bit like dressing in a Nazi uniform. But that's me very personally.

Ah, but you're looking at it the wrong way....
To Joe Pub it's not a Buchon, it's an Me109 which was in the film 'Battle of Britain'
Marketing is everything.

And as a number of the Spitfires around aren't real ( being dataplate restorations ) you'd essentially be flying in a replica.

Or, "what did you do for your anniversary?"

"We had a ride dog fighting in a Spitfire and a Messerschmitt".

I'd say turning up to have a ride in it whilst dressed as a Nazi would definitely be waaay into the dark side. It would be quite funny to see the pilots reaction as you strode out to the flightline though

In the politically correct environment we live in these days you would be shot down in flames for that! Hang on a minute? That's just history repeating itself. :loser:
