Some Recent Work (Helicopter Heavy!)

Post by Lloyd H »

So I've neglected posting on forums for the past few months, although I've still enjoyed browsing some of the excellent imagery that is posted.

Thought I should try to get back into the habit of posting some 'highlights' anyway, but they are particularly rotary orientated so I hope they don't bore you all! I've thrown in a couple of non-military shots so I hope I'm not chastised but it didn't seem worth creating another thread for a few shots!

Apologies for the jumps between 1200 & 1500px!

2. Managed to squeeze in two low level visits last year. I must say the enjoyment of going up there nowadays has slightly worn off.

4. Another AW139 SAR operator visit for Vertical, it's a great looking helicopter but it becomes hard to think of new angles after a while!

8. Back to the 56th RQS, I was trying to spool up a big video on them but I think it might have to wait until they've moved to Aviano. I did manage to join them on a live fire sortie with JTACS on STANTA.

11. The Grob Tutor, the only aircraft to have made me feel pretty queasy. Well apart from a C-130. We were fairly limited with a safe separation distance which made things tricky.

13. I joined the RCAF and RAF for a joint sortie to the Canadian National Vimy Memorial, an absolutely brilliant sortie to be a part of.

18. Two visits to the Finnish Border Guard, one in September of last year and the other in February. Incredibly fascinating organisation given that they sit between the military and police and the missions that they perform, a real multi-role operation.

20. Whilst there in September I had the opportunity to fly on a sortie which involved the rather secretive 5th Special Intervention Unit of the FBG.

32. Then finally I've been lucky enough to fly through the heli lanes on two occasions this year for jobs, one photographing an A109 and another joining two of the co-pilots from this years RAF Chinook display team.

Can only echo ibid, Lloyd.

I've seen a lot of this on your social media from time to time, but it's really nice to see it all contained in one thread.

Outstanding stuff, pal. :king:

I must admit I love taking the portraits, they often seem to be the more dramatic images as well!
