RAAF F-111 low in Southern Alps of NZ

Post by Andyph »

Happy days:

The RAAF saying hello on the way to Wanaka a while back :)

I have been doing this low level gig since the late the 80s so remember LN and UH F-111's through the Mach Loop, Thirlmere and Alwinton (Otterburn) but they were very rarely less than 500ft agl

Sadly they don't make them like this no more:(

Good stuff, but shot 4 particularly stands out for me with the lake and mountains behind.

Those are some pretty special shots! Has to be the fully swept shots that take it for me though!

The only way these could have been better would have been with a dump and burn whilst passing through.

Thanks for sharing these!

Wrong, it could have been in camo!

Fabulous looking aircraft, greatly missed, the noise they used to make when low level round here was fantastic. Great to see, thanks. :worship:

Huge Wow! B****y Fantastic! As Caper said, just the sound of them was Charisma, as for the Oz versions, the Camo years made them a real catch but even in grey, great, with those shots, again B****y incredible! Thanks!

One of the best photo posts I've seen. Low level or otherwise. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

Was it a setup or just being in the right place with local knowledge?
