Abingdon Air & Country Show 6 May 2018
Re: Abingdon Air & Country Show 6 May 2018
I have to say last years 'recommended group' were not recommended by me to anyone else! Thats why we have split into two gates, one for advance which should see speedier entry / exiting, and cash on the day at Gate A. We have also got the original all adult company back in to collect the cash on the dayers too and provide better security service.
Be advised - there will be random bag searches at the checkpoints just prior to entering the showground this year by security.. as part of the increased levels within and required. CCTV will be monitoring from within the barracks looking out onto the airfield.

I was going to buy an advance ticket but was put off as:
Ticketline appear to be charging a £1.50 fee plus another £1.50 to print your own ticket:
E-Tickets (Print at Home Tickets)
Get your tickets delivered directly to your inbox so you can print them out at home. This is the fastest and most eco-friendly method you can choose! £1.50
I'm sure I've used them before (e.g. with Threshold.aero events) without this surcharge.

No arrivals Friday. Sat couple of rehearsals AM, about 15 Aircraft to arrive during the afternoon plus localised vintage gliding.

Thanks. I've booked Friday off work as I usually do just in case but at least I can try and relax at home instead

Not any more. It was withdrawn a couple weeks ago.

That’s a shame.

Question for Oldtower please.
Have you used Gate B for air shows previously. Is there not a potential bottleneck on leaving the air show at the junction of Honeybottom Lane and Whitecross (where Premier Bikes are located). I have no prior knowledge btw - just looking at the map. Other than that it looks a straight run to the A34 from the airfield

I see Old Warden now have a Puma for Sunday, would be nice if Benson sent one to Abingdon too.

Catalina en route, passed over Letchworth a few minutes ago.
Re: Abingdon Air & Country Show 6 May 2018
Silly question but what time does the flying display commence please
Re: Abingdon Air & Country Show 6 May 2018
Will you be accepting card payments on the gate?
Re: Abingdon Air & Country Show 6 May 2018
Flying starts at 13:00
Wasp has had to cancel due to insurance requirements being changed 48 hours before the show!!!!
Tried his best to get insurance changed but too late!
Hope this isn’t the start of a new kick in the teeth for airshows

No comments on here about this year's show? Did anybody go, or was everybody at OW?
A solid line up - first outing of the Strike in new scheme, new Pitts on the circuit, C130 on static (that''s pretty rare these days).
Was it a sell out? Was it a good show?

I went and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Easy to get in and out, a varied flying display with some quality flying. The Strikemaster looks excellent in its new colours, the Spitfire/Buchon pair performed a lovely dogfight demo and Rich Goodwin in formation with a car was something quite different (this coming from someone that's not a fan of aerobatics). Excellent to see the Hercules on the ground too and we were treated to a touch and go after its departure.
Only downside for me were the toilets. Plenty dotted about but none (from what I found) were urinals which meant having to queue.
Can't do anything about looking into the sun. It is what it is and I'm just grateful that it was such good weather.

From what I hear urinals are on the way out, so better get used to it!
