A Bit Of Pomp & Colour, London ~ 09Jun18

Post by Pen Pusher »

I was in Trafalgar Square when I heard the strains of 'God Save The Queen' being played on Horseguards Parade which signaled the end of Trooping The Colour. I quickly, as the crowds would allow, made my way onto the Mall and found a spot so I could get the troops coming off Horseguards and onto the Mall. It was a case of holding the camera above my head to get any shots. In the order taken.

Just for future reference:
Did you go through Admiralty Arch to get onto the Mall?
Was the first shot from the Duke of York's Steps?
Were you not able to get more of the Arch in for the Red Arrows shot?

Yes, but there is only one pedestrian entrance.

Near, I was just the other side of the TV truck with the hydraulic platform and the steps were just to my right but were packed.

I could have if I had gone further down the Mall

Don't think that the Queen would have been very pleased with the turn out of the Guards Band, they look a right rag-bag. Is that Lord Guthrie before he and his horse parted company. Otherwise a good selection under difficult circumstances.

That's what I was wondering. I watched the 'Highlights' programme that evening, and was surprised that no mention of Lord Guthrie's mishap was made.

Great set of images. Doesn't Queenie look solemn, all alone in that carriage.
