1/48 Airfix P-51D Mustang "Missouri Armada"

Post by Mr Flibble »

Hi all,

Here's a few pics of my latest completion - the new tool Airfix Mustang, which I've used a Superscale sheet for.
Painted with MRP and weathered with oils - for the panel line wash and blended in to the rest of the model too.
Also used some pigments for a bit more weathering, and paint chipping brushed on with Citadel paints.
Finish is Vallejo - mix of Gloss and Matt to adjust the "mattness" to get the effect I wanted.
Hope you like :)

Helluva nice!

How was it to build?

The finish on your models is absolutely first rate. Stunning.

The photos are great too. I assume you're using a studio or light tent?

Thanks for the replies guys :)

Geoff, the kit is excellent in the main. Detail level superb but a couple minor fit issues I needed to work on. Nothing show-stopping and I’d build another. But will probably wait to see how Eduard’s kit comes out.

Dan, I’m using a light tent with some remotely triggered speedlights. I also have a polarising filter on my lens to cut down reflections and glare (although there still is a bit, mind!)

Cheers,
Phil

I'd never considered that - might work wonders with the stuff I shoot in my studio. Always trying to cut down on reflections, I'm using a white cloth to diffuse my lamps at the moment.
