La Ferté-Alais 2018 (Sunday)

Post by Col. Chibani »

One of the most fabulous Ferté I ever attended, with a gorgeous weather and a wonderful program !

After an early arrival, I found a good spot and enjoy a visit to the static display, including a vocal concert of the Satin Doll Sisters in front of the B-17 Pink Lady :

I gave the short focals to the kids, so I just took a few "cockpit shots" :

Meanwhile, lucky fellows enjoy a ride in a legend :

At last, the show starts, with the traditional & quiet "Irène" motoglide :.

ImageDSC_1748_00013 by Colonel CHIBANI, sur Flickr

On the other side of the speed scale, a Minijet makes some high-speed passes before having probably exhausted its fuel and having to get back to its secret base :

ImageDSC_1751_00016 by Colonel CHIBANI, sur Flickr

There was also a nice novelty in the form of a ribbon towed by a Kaydet, wrapped around by a Jodel, but I envoyed this so much that I did not manage to get a decent shot.

The Patrouille de France was led into la Ferté by a Sea Fury and a Mustang :

The PAF will come back later, and we go on with this living aviation history with the early pionneers, Morane type H, Blériot XI et Deperdussin :

(I worked my prop blur :heyhey: )

Here we go again (big family + demanding work + slow computer = low processing rate) :

It didn't took long to Mankind to realize that a cockade and a gun turn an aircraft into something that cut more than daisies:

The gunner looks a little bit "rubberish":

Triplanes dogfighting:

The show is also on the ground (heavily edited pic to suppress unwanted humans & other elements):

Hommage to Guynemer :

"Faire face" :

The "last of the last" will hopefully soon be over ...

A little interlude with the Rafale, that performed a flypast with the Spad, but the speed difference and distance prevented me to immortalize this moment:

ImageDSC_2030_exp_01 by Colonel CHIBANI, sur Flickr

The Morane-Saulnier "parasol" impersonate the "roaring twenties" ("années folles" / "crazy years" in french):

ImageDSC_2044_exp by Colonel CHIBANI, sur Flickr

ImageDSC_2046_exp by Colonel CHIBANI, sur Flickr

Crazy maybe was Adrienne Bolland, when she crossed the Ands in her Caudron G3 in 1921, following the instuctions of a mysterious fortune-teller, or so the legend says.

ImageDSC_2061_exp by Colonel CHIBANI, sur Flickr

It's crazy also to jump from a perfectly flying aircraft, loaded with guns and other gear (to say nothing of the dog  ). Kudos to the RAID jumpers, that have been quite on the edge recently.

And soon, business to serious to be given to generals (according to Clemenceau) will restart ...

Here we go again :

The traditional "Tora, Tora, Tora !" act sees a myriad of T-6 "Zeros" take off from the La Ferté "carrier":

It's a bit late, but better than never.
