Belgian Air Force 11 Sqn centennial Alpha Jet

Post by 138EAW »

Taken from the Belgian F-16 display team Facebook page. Hoping this will be at KB

So, here we have big news for you: today, the Dark Falcon's little sister was rolled out of the Florennes Paint Shop. AT-24 is a Belgian Air Force Alpha Jet called "Dark Bat". There is a lot to be told about the Alpha Jet in service with the Belgian Air Force. 2018 marks the 40th anniversary of the type in service, as well as the final year that it will fly in our colours. This means that we end the collaboration AJeTS with the Armée de l'Air, training young pilots to become fighter pilots. On top of that, 11 SQN, flying the Alpha Jet celebrates its 100th anniversary !

The design of the Dark Bat is inspired on the Dark Falcon, so that we they fly together (which they will on some occasions) they match perfectly! In stead of a falcon, the tail sports a bat, the squadron logo of 11 SQN. So, watch out for the Dark Bat ànd the Dark Falcon !!

Wouldn't fancy landing it on that undercarriage though :hide: .

Nice but very reserved compared to previous Alpha paintjobs. Can't remember the last time I saw a Belgian Alpha at a UK show, they were so common years ago. :dunno:
