Sollas Beach fly-in North Uist Island, Scotland.

Currently travelling the Uk from bottom to close to the top, within our plans
to catch up with a long time friend who had plans to fly us to a unique and
very special event. Off the west coast of Scotland lies the Outer Hebredian
Island of North Uist. Every year a fly-in is organised with aeroplanes landing
on the beach at low tide.

Took off from Cumbernauld airport close to Stirling in a Turbine Britten Norman
Islander, often the weather doesn’t allow for low flying. We were blessed with
a sunny day and light winds. On the way out managed to get close to the “Harry
Potter bridge,” sorry, Glenfinnan Viaduct.

This event is held in honour of it’s founder, thank you John.

In all 21 aeroplanes all singles, apart from the Islander, made it to the event,
a few of the smaller machines did turn back.

We must thank the event organiser and our hosts, we are humbled and very
lucky, a deffinite highlight of our trip if not one of the best adventures ever!

I know Sollas, saw a male Snowy Owl there a few years ago, so this caught my eye. Nice pics of an event that's a bit different!

Thanks for posting these. I should've been there myself but ongoing engine trouble prevented flight.
