RIAT 2019 wish list
RIAT 2019 wish list
Hi all, it's that time of the year again, so who's going to start next year's wish list off?

Re: RIAT 2019 wish list
Given the NATO theme it would be nice to see a lot of Tigers, maybe if we're lucky, lined up
Re: RIAT 2019 wish list
Generally speaking (not just next year) I'd like to see more heavy types in the flying line up. I'd like to see the B1-B, Hercules (preferably the original version) C-17 and other heavies.
But for a RIAT first, if our relationship with Russia is good, I'd love to see a TU-160!

Ukrainian Fencer or 2, something from the PLAAF, something from the Indian af, F 15s from Isreal, US navy super hornet and Hawkeye, AN-124, C-5, Mil 26, F-4, Mig 21, Su 25, Polish Fitter, farewell RAF Tornado display.

The Tornado retires before RIAT doesn’t it?

Flying Displays:
C-17 and/or Hercules just generally more heavies displaying maybe even some bombers, B-1, B-52
P-8 Poseidon
Su-35 or Su-27 but I'd really like to see a Pugachev Cobra display, there's plenty of Su-27, MiG-29 and Su-35 airshow videos on youtube and those displays are jaw dropping, the manoeuvres these aircraft can do are other worldly. How come we haven't seen any?
American F-15 Demo?
RAF Puma display?
I guess the Mosquito would be a quite a reach, but that would be incredible to see fly.
Blue Angels
Black Eagles, remains the best aerobatic team I've ever seen.
Saab Viggen
A-10 Warthog
P-51 Mustang solo display

Total agreement with this, I thought the most disappointing thing about the flying display was the lack of heavies. Farnborough gets the flack but some of the display items are superb, some real Leviathans thrown around and the LM100 is a better display than anything I saw at Fairford.

Original version...? I doubt that there's a 1954-vintage YC-130 left in flying condition...
...or did you mean the Hughes H-4 Hercules?

Re: RIAT 2019 wish list
If it's the NATO based celebration then it just has to be a flying B1 for sure.
It's been so long since we had one that I'm getting to the point now where I feel I'll never see it happen again.
If RIAT are able to pull it off then this will almost certainly be the highlight of the year.
Please please USAF help make this happen for 2019.
I know that there is no actual display for the B1 but I feel safe in saying that whatever it does in the US can be done here. A take off, a couple of flypasts, and the landing. That's all we ask.
Fingers crossed.

A few more heavies/bit more variety. A flying B1, B52, Herc, and an Osprey would be nice.
I'm all for the fast jets but I think 3 F-16's on the same day was a bit overkill.

Are you familiar Sir with something called "the news". We aren't exactly best friends or in a speaking term with Russia right now. Their situation and stance on Syria, plus their aggression towards NATO and lastly the recent Salisbury Novichok poisoning ( only manufactured in Russia ) would see that any participation from the nation be at an all time low of actually occurring. Unless Putin and Trump work together to help make tensions cool, perhaps then we will see something arrive.
Until then, we have to hope that the Polish, Ukrainians and Slovak displays of aircraft like the Mig-29 and Su-27 can suffice. Maybe an Indian Su-30MKI or a Malaysian Su-30MKM can provide a display next year, they may well include the manoeuvres.
Re: RIAT 2019 wish list
Mi-26 from the Jordanians would be fantastic, couldn't choose between flying or static ; both have their pluses.

My deepest wish, my very deepest, is a return(?) to some more sensible, considered, mature, calm, respectful, and nuanced posts from everyone than we have had this year.

I'm afraid you're out of luck there as they'll all be retired by February. The good old F-35 Boring II is seeing to that.
Maybe if there's anything from Japan that we could wish for that is at a least a possibility and not seen before it might be the Boeing E-767 AWACS.
