A nice variety at RAF Alconbury 4th September 1986.

You never knew what to expect, but even without visitors the TR-1s, F-5s and Phantoms were usually fairly active with missions morning and afternoon. Happy memories of parking up and trekking around the edge of the field with camera bag, sandwiches and the essential stepladder.

Very nice indeed! That TF-104G is gorgeous  unfortunately I never made it to Alconbury in those golden times, too bad... there were just too many other cool places to go to at that time...
Thanks for sharing - if you've got more from Alconbury I' d love to see that, too!

Another set of photos taken weeks before I was born, just down the road in Huntingdon  Great to see though, thanks for posting them.

Great pics - went past the old place the other day, in the process of being redeveloped - doubt there will be much left of it soon. Just as sad was Wyton, airfield site now looking very neglected and likewise on borrowed time before the housing developers move in I suspect.

You know you're getting old when other posters weren't even born when these places were in their prime!

Nice ... love the clean background. Was there only once in 1983. Did not realise then, that it all would change.

The airshows held there were pretty good too. I was there for those held in '82, '84, '85, '87' and '91.
