This Saturday - final flight of Meteor NF11 - Bruntingthorpe
Re: This Saturday - final flight of Meteor NF11 - Bruntingth
Not to forget the 'Admirals Barge' Hunter T.8C at North Weald, which is presumably, quite close to flight.
Along with the (potential) return of both Sea Vixen & Sea Hawk at Yeovilton.

With the RNHF moving onto the civil register and losing their military funding I think you're more likely to see the Vulcan fly to Bruntingthorpe than the Sea Hawk fly again.
Loafer for Mr. Da Vinci.
Re: This Saturday - final flight of Meteor NF11 - Bruntingth
The point I was making was relating to airworthy aircraft projects, as it seems heavily biased towards returning to flight WW2 piston aircraft, whilst we are losing our jet heritage overseas. Bar the Gnat and Wessex everything else flying in the list seems to be WW2 era stuff.
I thought the Sea Hawk went into store and there was little chance of it flying again, due to engine or starter cartridge issues.. The Sea Vixen I thought needed huge amounts spent on it to repair the damage from it’s belly landing.

Have to admit, I'd forgotten about the change onto the civil register. Just have to hope it doesn't effect their Swordfish & Sea Fury.

Ah yes, the little-known WW2 versions of the Albatros, Sopwith Strutter, Miles Sparrowhawk, DH Comet, Percival Q6...

Some of those I haven't heard of, however they are from an era that doesn't interest me.
I personally wouldn't go out of my way to see any of these.

"RAF100" sticker on the tail.
She has now arrived at Bruntingthorpe.

Couldn't agree more.

Not in the UK but over in the Netherlands, I believe there is a Dutch F-104 return to flight project underway. Hopefully something to look forward to for the future.

It was great to see and hear WM167 for one last time today. But, it was massively disappointing seeing the touch and goes performed purely for the Dornier camera ship and those onboard. Surely they could've done their air to airs on the transit from Coventry and allowed the Meteor to do some flypasts for those waiting in the freezing cold for several hours.

I thought the very same, considering the £10 cost and 3 hour wait, in the end the Strikemaster gave the most entertainment, and the Vampire landing immediately was also a tad disappointing

Re: This Saturday - final flight of Meteor NF11 - Bruntingth
Possibly the coldest i've ever felt at an aviation event... or maybe just the coldest I have ever felt, ever. But worth the wait. Admittedly, the touch and goes were clearly not done for us paying public, but I guess that was the chance we took. It was good to see it, just sad we won't see it fly again.

For those that are interested, the opening few minutes of this BBC bulletin cover the event (can anyone else spot themselves?)

Nice note Mike, no doubt a few others too.

A shame. Was said camera ship full of TV crews and the like, or select numbers of enthusiasts with tremendous wallets?

Neither really. It was everyone’s favourite photographer DH and someone with connections. No doubt we’ll see the air to airs they took on their social media and the next editions of Flypast and the like.
Re: This Saturday - final flight of Meteor NF11 - Bruntingth
Overheard that the pilot was only to do 3 circuits as dictated by the CAA. What should also be noted was that half the runway, the Bruntingthorpe end was in use as a track while aircraft were in operation at the Gilmorton end. Unfortunately we could not go to the Gilmorton end. Shame. I think what it does do is remind us that Bruntingthorpe is a bussiness that has aircraft on its premessis. Air to airs were carried out on the transit as per the vampire Twitter feed BTW

I had one of those Fiat 500s go past my feet at 50+mph, literally 1ft away.. with a novice racing driver at the wheel.

Don't suppose you caught any photos of it? Thanks
