A 'Mist'erious Stonehenge on the way to Yeovilton...
A couple of years ago I happened to be passing Stonehenge at sunrise on the way to Yeovilton and it was quite an awesome sight. Decided this year to actually be there overnight as the forecast was clear and humid, and I ended up taking shots for most of the night (most didn't quite work!) and after ...

Re: LM100J awesome display
Fully agree - I thought the A400M was a dynamic routine but the LM100J tops it.
The reduced display area at Farnborough has helped, in that the box is a lot smaller than the standard LM100J display routine. Plus the display pilot is about to retire - and is clearly planning to go out in style!

Re: RIAT 2018 Arrivals
Same old faces having someone rock up early and then having ten of their mates stroll straight to the front later... Frustrating but what can be done really? This. So irritating. They need to put barriers in place to stop this shenanigans. Yup, it is damn annoying. Had a guy at Cosford who was tryi...

Great stuff Shaun - looks like you made the best of those lovely, sunny, boiling hot, hazey daze... Guess you were in the fields near the sheep field for that Greek F16 banking in to land on friday. Lovely angle. I got there just in time to catch the last rehearsals but didn't recognise anyone as I ...

Re: Zoomer does Old Warden
Thanks for the positive comments chaps, much appreciated. Andy - there was a bit more cropping involved than I would like on a couple of these, so while the final results might look comparable to previous shows there were also a lot of throw aways. Richard - I think we both did OK, considering! Thou...

Great set there Richard (as to be expected). Looks like your lens workout was worth it.
I especially like No.4 - lovely scheme on that Moth, and I still haven't got a good shot of it myself!

Zoomer does Old Warden
Sorry, another OW post... I missed out on Old Warden last year, maybe regretting it now. Anyhow, I enjoyed last Sunday's show but definitely needed to crop more heavily than in years past, even using 500mm (on full frame). Tried to push down shutter speeds and generally pleased with results. Making ...

'Huh? "Can't photograph planes so close anymore, better start shooting lorries I guess. Spot on Sam - he was also talking about civvies and ongoing changes at LHR and LGW with fencing (where there were tiny gaps now there aren't) and new parking restrictions. So I guess why drive round the M25...

Re: Season Premiere Airshow Sunday 8 May 2016
I found aircraft altitude was more a problem than distance, both for viewing and photography. Let the photographer who doesn't crop their pix be the first to throw the stone at me - but while most aircraft were more distant, most people will just crop a bit more. I was shooting at quite slow shutter...

Re: French Foreign Legion BEP Impression
Cheers Tim. Yeah, atmosphere and the right look are what gets me happy. These guys (in fact most re-enactors I've had the pleasure of working with) are sticklers for perfection so you cant go far wrong with 'the look'. On this shoot I recall one of the guys gaiters got nudged round clambering in the...

French Foreign Legion BEP Impression
I occasionally do photoshoots with some re-enactment groups I know well. Last year I was asked by a good friend to take a few shots of his small group representing the French para forces in Indochina in the early 1950's. In case anyone else is into that sort of photography, I've just got around to e...

Looks like you had a good day out, and lovely to see an F22 in the air in sunshine - looking forward to this summer at Fairford (where we might get the aircraft, but the sun might be another matter) Thanks for sharing.
