Re: Bruntingthorpe Closure?

Lightning Preservation Group - Update A meeting was held at Bruntingthorpe today involving David Walton, the LPG and other Cold War Jet owners and operating teams. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the future of the aircraft remaining at Bruntingthorpe following the sale of C Walton Ltd to C...

Re: Wellesbourne Airfield

Sadly, by removing Take Flight the Littlers have removed the most vocal opponents of the airfield redevelopment. Stratford District Council seem to have changed their tune too. A great shame.

Sadly, this saga over Wellesbourne is far from over...

Re: Bruntingthorpe Closure?

A huge shame if this is the end, as indeed it looks like. Bruntingthorpe, the aircraft and their fantastic hardworking teams and indeed David Walton have given me some fantastic aviation memories down the years.

Re: Where has XH558 thread gone?

A HUNDRED pounds to hear an aeroplane engine run for a few minutes. You could comfortably fly to some European shows for that sort of money. Perhaps they have no interest in ‘flying to European Shows’ and would much rather listen to 558 for a few minutes. But then you’ve never liked other people’s ...

A predictable reply, taking no notice of the difference in publicly displaying the aircraft and an A to B ferry movement, the 1st of many I suspect, as I said place this aircraft outside the UK and the issues would be overcome Really? You think so? Absolutely no chance. It's not outside the UK so w...

The article suggests the weather got the better of it.

Seen it up close quite a lot in 2010, it was in a bit of a state then. At least it's still in one piece.

Great shots A question - could a plane that is able to taxi in theory take off? I know they can't for various safety/airworthyness reasons, but in theory could that Lightning pilot have just opened the throttle and gone? Pardon my ignornace, I don't know enough about the 'suck squeeze bang blow' to...

Sat on the A41 for nearly 1hr and a half completely stationary before seizing the initiative and heading down single track lanes to get to the show where I was told I couldn't get in. Fair enough, I never had a ticket, but 10pm on a Saturday, when I was in bed to get an early start to get to Cosford...

My money is on people, sick people, not anyone to do with Islam, trying to stir up violence after what has happened the past week.

They should be ashamed of themselves. And hung.

Just my opinion.

IIRC, it's spring loaded so as the lead drops away it snaps shut.

Also, let's not forget the sacrifice this guy has made, staying with that thing until it hit the ground, putting his life before anyone on the ground had he chosen to leave via Martin Baker.

It is a great shame but I note two things that niggle, first it didn`t crash, it seems to have made a perfect landing, and why were the firemen standing around watching it burn for soooooooo long?
