Re: Canon RF 100-400

Don't know where you researched, but forgot to add this Link: https://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/4611388 Ignore the price comparisons as they're historic! Use today's prices & compare. Oh ! & yes I would take a used EF100-400 IS MkII over a new RF 100-400* any day! * F8 @ max' zoom with...

Re: Canon RF 100-400

I have one to use with my R7. I bought it as a lightweight alternative to my 100-400L II. I can't comment on image quality, partly because I have not used the R7 with either lens very much and secondly because the R7 has such complex setup options, I have really not got my head around it. In terms ...

Canon RF 100-400

Has anyone used one of these for aviation photography. I'm considering getting either this or the EF 100-400 II to go with my R7.

I've currently got an EF 400 f5.6 which is a lovely lens but I'm feeling constricted by the lack of flexibility of a prime

Aviation Photography Event

I don't know if this is of interest on 28 Jan. It's an interview with photographer Mark Lynham and is meant to cover aviation and bird photography. From experience Glyn Dewis is an excellent tutor and his broadcasts are pretty good https://facebook.com/events/s/photographing-fast-jets-feathe/1176747...

Re: Canon RF 200-800mm

There certainly appears to be a direction of travel to make lighter and "lower cost" longer telephoto lenses. This seems to be by utilising the better high iso capabilities of more modern sensors (which also drives camera body sales). I'd suggest that Canon's R&D research showed the pr...

Re: Canon R7 "Black out"

Hi i found this online and a few others that mention EVF blackout. don't get me wrong from what I've seen is a good camera as are most these days. https://www.thephoblographer.com/2022/07/27/canon-eos-r7-review-one-of-the-best-cameras-this-year/ I think the OP means the whole viewfinder went black,...

Re: Canon R7 "Black out"

I'm afraid it's not something I've come across on my R7 and I haven't seen it reported widely. It has locked up on me a couple of times but that's all. I wonder if your battery was getting low at that time ? Failing that I think I'd contact Canon for their thoughts, especially if your friend is seei...

Re: Old Buckenham 2023

This was my second trip to Old Buckenham and I remain amazed at how small the crowdsize remains. Compared to Duxford or even Shuttleworth, it's quite limited in terms of audience size although I note that the parking field was full. We really lucked out with the weather on Saturday, lots of people ...

Re: God Save the King!

You've obviously had some challenging conditions. For the Japanese 777 I would imagine the patch tool in Photoshop should deal with the sky - or if not as it's a uniform grey, you could sample the sky and paint it in. The clone stamp could help with the grass and I'd suggest a curves adjustment laye...

Re: Need help deciding on Mirrorless Camera

I'm a Canon user - I moved from a 7Dii to an R7 mainly because I my collection of exiting Canon mount lenses. I can say for Canon the existing lenses work perfectly or even better than they did on an SLR using the adapter. I'm guessing the same will apply to Nikon and Sony As you are not tied in to ...

Re: Noise reduction or sharpen first - and the R5

There is a Canon R5/R6 group on facebook and everyone uses DXO or Topaz. Never used either, just Adobe Camera Raw and Photoshop. Maybe I should see what DXO can do! I think both offer free trials - I know lots of bird photographers rave about them. There is also a YouTube video from Stuart Rouse, w...

Re: Suggestions for upgrade from Canon "Kit" lens

Depends on your budget but if you don't mind buying s/hand how about a Canon 10-22 - build quality was considered to be not far off an L series at the time of release. I've been pleased with mine - bought to go with a 7Dii and now currently in use on an R7 Alternatively for more money but relatively...

Re: Computer Chair.

Have a look at a quality second hand office chair - I got an RH Logic 400 for a very reasonable price - it has multiple ranges of adjustments including pump up lumbar support. They tend to be less well known than Hermon Miller so offer second hand better value imo. Specialist office chairs are desig...

Re: San Diego 28.07.2022

All very nice shots, strangely I quite like the last image giving a sense of place and a wider shot of the location. It looks a little crooked so might be tempted to correct the verticals - the edge of the building on the rhs seems to have a lean
