Re: Northolt night shoot XXIX

I chatted to you next to the Typhoon after you had broken your tripod but to be honest it doesn't seem to have been much of an issue, you've nailed all those, nice set, I don't think anyone would have twigged you'd had a problem. I've only just realised the P180 had the coloour scheme and had ran ou...

Thankyou Phil and all the staff and visiting crew for a fantastic night.
New layout tonight which worked well and multiple engine runs which kept everyone running around, I was exhausted by the end πŸ˜‚

Of course the Nightshoots are held at night so perhaps you should stop being so patronising in your normal fashion.
I wasn’t being patronising, I was being sarcastic, neither of which is my normal manner, as opposed to your NHT criticism 😁

Blackjack has no hours left and is undergoing heavy maintenance and the display pilot has gone back to normal operations so will be a miracle if it does turn up.The PC21,S are probably the same ones that have been in before as is the Canadian Herc.Gone are the days when photoshoots used to be on Su...

They dont have feet The C17 has 10000 of them according to ADSB πŸ˜‹ I wonder if they’re wet, dry or damp & moist No idea, I'm not entirely sure what Dave was talking about πŸ˜‚ I think he means that they are over land, and not water. Although counter intuitive, it can sometimes help to apply noise to the affected area.
I did read this somewhere so might give it a try, but very annoying when you are shooting with Β£1000s of gear to have to introduce noise πŸ˜‚

Re: Banding

I also struggled with banding when shooting the Herc at Northolt. Are you seeing banding on your monitor on your locally saved file? Its fine while I edit but then when I save (regardless of jpeg tiff etc) it appears then. I found that it was only on upload to Flickr where I was experiencing bandin...

Re: Banding

How did you arrive at the final image? RAW>TIFF>JPEG, or shot as JPEG? It looks like compression artifacts. Not an expert, so happy to be corrected. Good luck with your search for a solution. I always shoot RAW, import into LR and edit either in LR or Photoshop but then export as jpeg if sending to...

If changes in your editing software make no difference, perhaps the issue is at the camera?
I don't think so CG, most of the other pictures from the same event are fine, as I said to Andy I thinks in the edit but it's frustrating I can't pin it down.

Re: Banding

I used the same set-up and pretty much the same settings but didn't get this issue. I suspect this doesn't help a lot but thought it worth mentioning. Andy Thanks Andy I think its something in my editing workflow, I tend to be quite aggressive, I might try a more basic colour edit and see if that i...

Banding

Hi all, I consider myself pretty competent when it comes to Lightroom and Photoshop but after the Northolt Nightshoot I have experienced severe banding in several of my images from the event, see below: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52764562706_d90893f52d_b.jpg I've tried everything I can thin...

I've just been looking at your other photos and there is one of a Comet with clipped wings, is that the one that used to sit on Comet Corner at Heathrow?

Comet C 2022 E3 (ZTF)

Hello all, Like many astrophotographers recently I've been chasing the comet above. It was not easy and the shot I wanted when it was close to Mars I was clouded out πŸ˜‚ This is my best result and now its moving away probably my last. This was about 2.5 hours of data in total. https://live.staticflick...
