Re: Battle of Britain Airshow 2020 - Cancelled

If the world was in a better place, I should be walking up and down the trade stands at Duxford right now on day one of the Battle of Britain airshow, on what looks like being a glorious weekend. :disappointed_relieved: Yes indeed, so would I. I'd have just had a coffee in the middle cafe and be ma...

Re: Battle of Britain Airshow 2020 - Cancelled

Oh dear what a shame! That's it then, other than Shuttleworth that's the end of the season...such as it was..I would imagine Bicester will be next? Also as I understand, anyone within those groups can't mingle with anyone from another group. That's what's stuffed our model club meeting this month ( ...

Re: Battle of Britain Airshow 2020 - Cancelled

OK, I'm confused... So if not the rule of 6, its going to be very difficult to follow social distancing rules surely..? 'with thousands expected'..... Don't get me wrong I really hope the event happens,( we need something positive at the moment, lets face it) but I can't see why others cancel their ...

Sywell pistons and props still going ahead I believe with thousands expected .
Good luck to them and I wish them well, but how? The rule of 6 applies surely? I also see that the Bicester Sunday Scramble is still on on 4th October. I have tickets for this one and was hoping to take the Jeep too??

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

With major events now being cancelled (the Southampton Boat show for one) and others possibly cancelled because the maximum group size is now 6 and not 30, what difference will it make if the original expected attendance was well into the 1000's above those figures anyway..!

Re: Battle of Britain Airshow 2020 - 18th-20th September.

I still don't get what difference it will make if the limit was 30 people in a group and they were going ahead anyway with 13,070 more than that and its now 6. Surely a 24 person reduction among 14,000 is negligable to say the least... Will someone explain or am I missing the obvious?

Re: Battle of Britain Airshow 2020 - 18th-20th September.

Just curious, and I must be missing something somewhere, but, how will todays new ruling regarding NMT 6 in a group instead of up to 30 affect Duxfords (IWM) decision to go ahead (or not) when they were going ahead anyway when the ruling was with 30...In the grand scheme of things how is 13,970 peop...

Re: Battle of Britain Airshow 2020 - 18th-20th September.

Do we know how many tickets Duxford has sold for Saturday and for Sunday at the moment? I am guessing each day is far more than 3,640. Re: Battle of Britain Airshow 2020 - 18th-20th September.

Its a good question. However, I would have thought that if you are in a local lockdown you are not allowed to leave the area. I wouldn't expect there to be an obligation on the IWM to check whether any or all individuals are legally allowed to attend. There are lots of uncertainties as to how the l...

Re: Battle of Britain Airshow 2020 - 18th-20th September.

My biggest concern is the possible backlash Duxford and IWM will get from the press and the public when 100's of people fall ill because they attended one of those dangerous airshows when they were told not to....Lets face it we get enough bad press as it is, do we really need anymore....

Re: 'Del Boy' Battle of Britain and BBMF documentary.

Should have got Rodders to do it instead........he actually does have an interest in the subject. Nic Lyndhurst grew up surrounded by old militaria, and WW2 stuff, and by all accounts developed quite a geeky knowledge on the subject. Back in the late 80's/early 90's I used to go on a regular basis ...

'Del Boy' Battle of Britain and BBMF documentary.

Saw this advertised in the wife's TV magazine today. Due for transmission on Battle of Britain Day next Tuesday. Might be worth a watch? Filmed back in July apparently.

So I guess it'll now be reduced to rubble and used as hardcore for A15 road repairs will it... :worried: :disappointed: Nope. Yes indeed. Really enjoying it at the moment. One more to go. It's interesting how they're tying all the aspects together during that particular day. It's also nice to give some credit to the unsung heroes and quite emotional at times. Particularly the guy from Biggin Hill who at 7 years old got up c...
