Re: Warplane Workshop Series 2

I thought last night's edition on the Tempest 2 was excellent. Good to see some younger engineers getting involved and I was surprised how many sub-contractors were involved but a great final result. Yes indeed. Fascinating to see what actually goes into such a project. Saw it at Duxford last year ...

Apparently the 1st episode was full of stupid music that drowns out and corrupts the engine noise....
Quite! Supposedly its for 'dramatic effect'.....whatever that is.

A nippy Nightshoot XXX

Another great Nighshoot albiet a little on the nippy side for some of the time. A big thanks to Phil and the team and nice to see Group Captain Hough getting involved with us too. He certainly seems keen on the events continuing. Anyway although somewhat repetitive, heres several of my meagre effort...

Re: Warplane Workshop Series 2

Fairly good effort I thought. Just a pity they have to insist on using this ‘false jeopardy’ idea all the time. Still, it was good publicity for Shuttleworth which can’t be a bad thing.
Next weeks is on the new Tempest II so hopefully that should be good.

Yes indeed, another great night albeit a little on the nippy side at times... :snowflake: and many thanks to everyone involved and it was particularly nice to have a brief chat with Group Captain Hough, the base commander. His enthusiasm and gratitude for everything Phil and his team have done was o...

Re: Northolt Night Photoshoot XXX Thursday 7th March 2024

Keith is right. its the 30th Night Photoshoot rather than 30th Anniversary. No3 was held in daylight of course for Fly Navy 100 when there was a late change of plan when the Royal Navy helicopters arrived the morning of the flypast rather than the night before :) OK, so maybe the word ‘anniversary’...

Certainly looks like being an excellent 30th anniversary event.
Never knew the first one was in 1994.
It wasn't. The first one was in January 2009 but there are on average about 2 a year.

Oh dear that’s sad news indeed.
I’m a great fan of his work and the proud owner of both of his Schweinfurt prints and the Ploesti one.
If only I had more wall space…
RIP Robert

HMS Queen Elizabeth c/w F-35's

I noticed on the HMS Warrior webcam this morning that HMS QE is in port with F-35's on the deck. Did it arrive in port with them on (when?) Does anyone know if she'll go back out with them and when?

Yep, absolute doddle although I did feel a bit vulnerable right in the far left corner. But it was no problem anyway. Only real nuisance was having to turn left but that was understandable. Just up to the roundabout and back again. Anyway, a nice relaxing day out all round, topped off by getting clo...

Left getting tickets too late, they've sold out. By any chance, if someone can't make it, I'm after a pair of tickets. Thanks in advance. Crikey, that’s a first surely for what’s basically just a glorified flying day. It wouldn’t have anything to do with the POSSIBILITY of seeing a certain Tempest I...

The Tempest will need umpteen hours of air tests before the man from the CAA signs it off for use.
Would they not be allowed to put it on static on the flightline (should they want to)?
Nothing stopping it going on static hopefully crowd side.
