Re: The only way is Wessex

Fantastic! I have a soft spot for the old Wessex as my local airfield was Shawbury where as a teenager I used to spend every available holiday at the fence watching the 2FTS birds endlessly doing circuits, aporoaches and other training manoeuvres. XT606 is like an old friend

Re: Llanbedr May 1990

Oh those are brilliant. I remember around 1987 I think... getting my Dad to drive me 4 hours to Wales so I could sit for the day on Shell Island hoping to glimpse a Sea Vixen in the air. Alas they never flew and I was quite disappointed only to see Meteor and Canberra! I'd give my right arm for days...

Re: Paint advice required.

I use Tamiya where i can and Vallejo Model color and model air but have recently been using Mr Hobby Aqueous which sprays as well as Tamiya and the paint choice and matches are really good. Vallejo is pretty good too, large range of colours but i do find they can clog the smaller nozzle airbrushes f...

Re: My first month with new camera gear

Great shots there. I've been thinking about ditching my DSLR gear for a superzoom bridge camera too. Currently trialling the Panasonic FZ1000, but did consider RX10 III. Panny was cheaper though. Although looking at your results i may have to trade the Panny in!

Re: Shuttleworth Race Day 1st October 2017

Great set of photos  I attended too and it was a challenging day for photography to say the least. The high winds curtailed the flying for the older more fragile types sadly but a great effort from the Suttleworth team to get anything flying in those conditions

This is the field that police said it was ok to stand in well away from display line but directly under Reds and Typhoon if displayed. The traffic on A464 was not stopped during display . m The traffic WAS stopped. I couldn't make the show proper this year but snatched a couple of hours in the afte...

I've picked some oil paint up today together with some humbrol wash so I'll give both a try. Thanks for the advice

Panel Wash questions

I'm having a bash at my first panel wash. I'm an acrylic brush painter, so I've glossed the model with Humbrol Clear Cote then used a chalk based pastel mixed with water and drop of washing up liquid for the wash. This goes on easy enough, and the excess wipes off fine and the result looks great.......

My thoughts on Saturday Arrived 6.15am on the red route...surprised to have to queue for 30 mins to get in. Never had this problem before at this time. But no major issues once on base... and pretty easy to get into the showground proper. Static....nicely laid out and although there were some qualit...

Does anyone know if there will be any viewing allowed from the main Whelford road itself next to P&V East as in previous years? I have seen rumours that this road will be closed off to pedestrians?

Hi Derek Please keep posting...I'm really enjoying the 1/144 sections as I've just downsized from 1/48th. Lack of time and space has made me try out 'the dark side'!!! Some really interesting subjects Picked up a few 144 kits at Cosford last weekend so I'm looking forward to cracking on with them......

Hi EGL I did the same a couple of years ago when i got back into modelling, and changed over to acrylics from enamels. The revell paints are very good although the range is limited and I find they thicken quite quickly in the pots over time. Mainly I use Vallejo, great range of colours and I find th...

Saturday arrivals parking?

Planning to visit Cosford station to view the arrivals (like many others I would imagine!) and was wondering where's the best place to park? Presume the museum will be open as normal but can you use the car parks near the station or are they restricted?
