Re: Duxford Flying Finale - Saturday 5th October 2024
Another great October flying day! Weather was almost perfect despite the wind and the flying display was very good indeed. I even took more time to enjoy the Red Arrows in that (almost) cloudless blue sky at the end. MH334 with the Reds very moving as was the multiple Spit and Hurricane tribute to G...

Re: Victory Show 2024, Cosby - 30th August - 1st September
I went yesterday (Saturday) and although had a very enjoyable day it was definitely a lot less impressive than previous years. The weather and cancellations didn't help the flying which had huge gaps all over the place. I wonder if the slightly earlier date didn't help as it clashes with a few other...

Re: RIAT 24: Thoughts & Feedback
I posted some thoughts elsewhere so I'll just quickly sum up here: Pros Static excellent...best in many years, aprons felt full. Highlights being the F-16 line, the Moroccans and Romanians being the standout of these. F-4s, F-5s, A-4, Qinetiq park, Canadian and Qatar parks, Serbian first time appear...

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread
It was my first P&V Monday for about 10 years and BOY was it good! I stopped going when everything seemed to have left by lunchtime so only a half days entertainment. Today was like the good old days where it was almost dawn til dusk departures. I opted for the west end and was surprised how man...

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread
Sorry if this has been asked already but it's our first departures day tomorrow, do you choose which end of the runway you want to go to by which colour route you follow, or do you choose once on the airfield? I'm probably aiming for seeing most of the aircraft in the air, so that's west I'm guessi...

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread
Just returned from a very enjoyable RIAT. The static display was just excellent especially the F-16 lineup which reminded me of the 'old' tattoos. I'd love to see more lineups like that but I suppose the F-16 is probably the only single aircraft type en mass with air forces around the world that it ...

Re: Sywell Airshow 2024
Having just returned I must say what a fabulous show this was! I've been to the museum before but never on the airfield and I think it's a great venue. It reminded me of a small Duxford Show at times. To be honest I don't think I've enjoyed an airshow as much as this for a long time. Traffic getting...

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread
I'm really looking forward to this one this year! The Viper lineup alone is worth the attendance fee in my opinion. I've been longing to see a 'one type' mass lineup up for years.... can't think it's been done with fighter aircraft since the tattoos of the 1980s with Hunters, F-4s and F-104s? Can't ...

Re: Cosford Airshow 2024 - 9th June 2024
Thought it was a solid show this year. Everything that was on the list today turned up which is unheard of! Mirage pair fast passes were the highlight of the day, Atlas pair nice, plus the falcons finally jumping out of a proper service transport aircraft for a change was also great to see. Typhoon ...

I thought Teeside was a bit of an odd choice last time. Wouldn't somewhere like East Midlands airport be more logical / closer?

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread
As we look as though we are going to get some nice numbers of F-16s wouldn't it be nice to have them all lined up like we used to get for other anniversary types at 'older' tattoos.... I'm thinking the Hunter and F-4 lineups in particular. I'm not sure if the revised aprons allow for that these days...

Re: Bruntingthorpe Cold War Jets 2014
These were superb events! I went to many over the years and it's scandalous how the airfield ended up as a giant car park... with what's left of the cold war collection now crammed into a corner with nowhere to run. Lovely lovely photos that bring back happy memories. How lucky we were too witness t...

I only do one day too. When you first arrive you think how am i going to see this all in one day but there's plenty of time and as said above you can normally get around the ground displays easily before the ground battle starts...then off to the flightline for the airshow. It's a great day out!

Re: Fairford 1993 - 30th anniversary of that Air Tattoo
What a fabulous trip down memory lane. Sadly this was the only Air Tattoo I've missed since '85 (apart from ATI92) But in hindsight I don't think I would have liked to have witnessed the MIGs crash. But what a line up though...with so many types coming to the end of their service lives. The 90s tatt...

This could be very good. I just hope that the organising team can line them up in one long row like days of old with F-4s, C-130s, Hunters etc. Now that would be a crowd pleaser.Skylinerworld wrote: ↑Mon 17 Jul 2023, 6:17 pmI see one of next year's themes is 50 years of the F-16, could be a good'un!

Re: RIAT 2023 Discuss everything thread
My thoughts having attended on Saturday. Good points.... Well laid out static display. Maybe no jaw dropping stand-out items but a good variety nonetheless. The Fitter, F-4, Harriers, Dutch F-35s, Metrea KC135, and Mil 17 being some of my favourites. There seemed to be a few gaps here and there no d...
