Can't you just turn up and pay on the day like last year at both East and West?

Can't wait until we get a Ukrainian pair of Su-24's for static.

Got to happen one day, surely?

Re: Bruntingthorpe Cold War Jets 2014

These were superb events! I went to many over the years and it's scandalous how the airfield ended up as a giant car park... with what's left of the cold war collection now crammed into a corner with nowhere to run. Lovely lovely photos that bring back happy memories. How lucky we were too witness t...

Re: The Victory Show 2nd to 3rd September 2023

Yes I went yesterday and the whole day was very enjoyable as always. Traffic a little sticky getting in but no problems whatsoever getting out at the end. The superb weather made it even more special and with those endless flypasts, lazy loops and victory rolls into the clear blue sky by the Spit an...

I only do one day too. When you first arrive you think how am i going to see this all in one day but there's plenty of time and as said above you can normally get around the ground displays easily before the ground battle starts...then off to the flightline for the airshow. It's a great day out!

Re: Fairford 1993 - 30th anniversary of that Air Tattoo

What a fabulous trip down memory lane. Sadly this was the only Air Tattoo I've missed since '85 (apart from ATI92) But in hindsight I don't think I would have liked to have witnessed the MIGs crash. But what a line up though...with so many types coming to the end of their service lives. The 90s tatt...

I see one of next year's themes is 50 years of the F-16, could be a good'un!
This could be very good. I just hope that the organising team can line them up in one long row like days of old with F-4s, C-130s, Hunters etc. Now that would be a crowd pleaser.

Re: RIAT 2023 Discuss everything thread

My thoughts having attended on Saturday. Good points.... Well laid out static display. Maybe no jaw dropping stand-out items but a good variety nonetheless. The Fitter, F-4, Harriers, Dutch F-35s, Metrea KC135, and Mil 17 being some of my favourites. There seemed to be a few gaps here and there no d...

Re: RIAT 2023 Discuss everything thread

The Red entry was the worst I've ever known in almost 40 years of attending...over 2 hours from joining the back of the queue at 7am to being on base. Just a tip make sure you don't pack too much stuff as the bag searches are really really thorough! Every pocket...bag within bag searched so beware t...

Re: Cosford Airshow 2023 (discuss everything)

I think the last poster makes a very fair point, which I think i may have touched upon some years ago when Cosford has been previously slated. I've been going since the late 70s and it's never really been a 'large' show and always tended to be more of a smaller family event. The problem lies in that...

Re: Cosford 2023 thoughts and views?

Just got back from an enjoyable day. I missed out on tickets so made do with viewing outside so cannot comment on the showground exhibition. It was an 'ok' show but not one of Cosfords best I'm afraid. Pat Suisse were very good and polished as always, Reds i thought were pretty good too. Loved the C...

Re: 8th Air Force Museums

I visited a few disused airfields in Suffolk some years ago during a weeks holiday and there are some great museums out there, but the opening hours /days can be limited so worth checking this first. I can recommend Bottisham, Thorpe Abbotts, Martlesham Heath, Parham, Norwich Horsham St Faith, and F...

Re: Flying Legends 2023 - 15-16 July - Venue TBA

Such a shame this clashes with RIAT as I would have gone. I'm pleased they've chosen Church Fenton as it's a pretty good venue plus it gives us folk north of Birmingham another desperately needed event. Having attended the last airshow at CF a few years ago my only concern would be the road infrastr...

Re: Duxford Flying Finale Saturday 8th October

Brilliant day out. Pat Suisse looked really great in the relatively tight display area. Nice selection of warbirds and some cracking weather. Seemed a bit more crowded than last year (more ticket allocation?). Only thing that spoilt it was the car parking at the end. Hardly any marshals in the field...

I was at Cosby waiting for the same flypast and apparently they suffered tech probs at Bournemouth and had to transit back to scampton as singletons, so cancelling en-route flypasts 😕 It's not been a memorable year for the Reds has it..

Yes I agree that the annual scrum amongst photographers at RIAT is distasteful. I used to photograph at shows then had an epiphany about 10 years ago... You miss 80% of a show with your eye stuck to a viewfinder all the time. Never taken any camera to any show since. I just watch superbly skilled a...

Re: FIA 2022

These new rules regarding flying displays at Farnborough really don't make much sense. The Black Eagles spent all last week practicing at 20min formation display over Farnborough and yet 4 days later, they are only allowed to do a single fly past for the actual airshow. How does that make any sense...
