Re: Drive-in airshows?

All this talk of drive in airshows being new and innovative. I am sure I remember as a child in the 70s and 80s watching the majority of airshows from the car? IAT at Greenham Common? RAF Locking open days? RAF Fairford at home days? RAF St Athan BoB Day? It may be that some of the above weren’t se...

Ozark. Finished series 3. Not as good as the first two, but plenty to enjoy. One more series has been commissioned.

Carl Reiner - film maker, comedian, actor and many other things, has died, aged 98. Great pals with Mel Brooks. Was just reading about them the other day. They had dinner together each night. Two legends!

Put up a singleton Austrian Typhoon a few comps back; they came in a pair and gave a terrific show. https://live.staticflickr.com/7355/9735285949_5eb1ef6076_h.jpg Couldn't miss a chance to show the most exciting pair seen for a while. Just fantastic to see. https://live.staticflickr.com/3921/1516007...

This from 1993, Su-27 Flanker of the Test Pilot duo team. Very fortunate to have seen these in action. Woodford air shows were never dull and despite the small area, always included some really interesting aircraft.

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

The care home situation has been one of horrible irony. Keeping people 'at home' is an understandable step to take during a pandemic, but when you're elderly and share your home with dozens of others, some of whom have had positive Covid tests, its just horrendous. Understandably, at the beginning ...

A rare occurence, a Red Arrows display in the Firth of Forth, centred on Leith, in 2011. Weather wasn't great but was good to see the team over the water (mostly) and occasionally over our heads. https://live.staticflickr.com/6137/5934851084_35a6a93f03_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/6002/593428...

Let's not forget Trump lost the popular vote, so another defeat like that, in the right states this time and he'll be like Pearl Harbor, a reminder of what can happen if you let your guard down.

Re: Culture Wars

Isn't saying 'white lives matter' a response to 'black lives matter'? To try and equate the two.

I'm not an expert on race relations but I don't think the white population of America has suffered discrimination in the same way as the black population of America has over the years.

Re: Not The Way To Social Distance at Airports

In the days of British Rail ,when there was still EPB rolling stock eg class 400 multiple units ,if the driver forgot to put the manual handbrake on at least one of the units, once the air leaked away the train would( if on a gradient ) start to roll away and wouldn't usually stop until it collided...

Re: Not The Way To Social Distance at Airports

Fair play to the person who jumped out then tried to stop the moving aircraft once in full 'flight'. Sorry, but he's a bit of a muppet. Once an aircraft starts going like that, there's no stopping it apart from applying the brakes. Chocks will only slow it down as it would just jump them. All he (a...

New Zealand might the only place worth going. No offence but why on earth would we want tourism from a COVID hotspot like the UK? We are desperate to keep our borders shut! None taken. It was a comment on the small number of places where UK citizens would want to go, but you're right, New Zealand w...

Another thing as well, I suppose, I know that they’re due to be retired soon,l (if not already, making the point a bit moot), but aren’t the corporate-looking white BAE 146s of 32(TR) Sqn designed for the purpose of VIP flights?
But maybe PMBJ is taking his children and needs extra capacity?
