Re: Trumpeter 1/48 F-100D Super Sabre
Question for you Derek...I have tried many team aircraft before and always had problems with being able to see paint colour coming through the decal....Yours are fantastic how do you get over the above problem ?? I have the old Monogram F-16 Thunderbird to do and a 1/32 revell Patrol Swiss F-5 to do...

Re: Living History!
Well me personally, I spent 3 years in the Army cadets, 3 years in Royal Auxiliary Air Force, 6 years Royal Air Force, 30 Years working as a MOD civil servant on a US air base. I must admit even I'm surprised how many ex-service personnel do living history, but even those who have no service history...

Good Lord Derek, I think you are going to be busy. One small tip! every so often give yourself a change, because I use my models when I do a Luftwaffe re-enactment ( Missus wont let me get a real 109 ) over the winter months I did a Horten 229, Arado 555, Flitzer, and a few others...And to be honest...

Great model, I went the other way last week, tried spraying 1/32 spitfire only to find couldn't get the camo right, so went back to the good old paint brush...Trial and error as always!!

Great photo's, but have to say it worries me too how some re-enactors carry the German thing too far. As a re-enactor myself ( Luftwaffe Aircrew for 8 years ) I am very aware and careful how i portray what I do, as all to often the press like to call us all Nazi's. Don't get me wrong ive been taken ...

Great Dio, Just done a 1/24 JU-87 and wanted to do a couple of crew dogs to work on the engine, and to my surprise ( because it was my first 1/24) there is very little in the way of Diorama accessories out there..Thanks to some advice from another modeler I ended up using Tamiya's 1/24th rally pit c...

And now back to the photographs, Cracking set! I love the F-22 (far more sexy looking than the F-35) as for the witch hunt on here...Well all I can say is Why have a press day when any photo you take can be deemed a breach in classified material, in my 30 years of working on the hall, we are told no...

Re: Lakenheath: Burners, Bombs and Guardsmen
Some fantastic shots, I am a bit worried about 027 though, I think someones over filled the oil in the engine (used to happen with the F-4s sometimes). As for the last shot, that's one hell of a capture, but shouldn't they be on Mildenhall? because like the base they would be hare today and gone tom...

I thought only fair, when firms do look after their customers that I give them a shout out, so...This winter ive had two complete nightmares, firstly the never ending Tail of the Revell 1/32 HE-111 who's front canopy I messed up by getting spray paint all in the wrong places...a modellers worst fear...

Dear o Dear mate, I tell you what given the kit you had to work with that's one hell of a job you did. I really cant see how Airfix (who are not novices in model production) can get it so wrong! All those models I posted in my thread (winters work) are very old Monogram/Revell or Pro-modeler. Well t...

Re: A winters work
Thanks guy's. Using an airbrush is a learning curve, one that I'm still trying to get used to. What you don't see here is the other 1/32 HE-111 from revell that was going perfect until it came to airbrushing the canopy glass and there was a gap in the model glass and body and paint got into the insi...

well as some of you know, I do Luftwaffe re-enactment at many WWII events around East Anglia, and this year apart from the 1/18th scale BF-109,FW-190d and ME-262 I have, I decided to create my own take on the post Battle of Britain Luftwaffe night offensive against Britain. This is the result of a w...

Aviation nuts (yes that's me too) no matter where you go, Lakenheath spy corner or airshows, everyone is an expert. I meet aircrew everyday, have done for the past 34 years and when things do go pear shaped and they lose a fellow aviator even they wont speculate what went wrong. I, as do the guy's w...

Great Shots Tim, I didn't know Typhoons used brake-chute, ill have to re-enlist. It was the only job I really loved at Coningsby, taking the Brake-chute out of the F-4s, then the Tonkas came and we lost our chance to get a sun-tan at the 08 end.....Oh Happy Days, thanks for posting

Great photos, but glad i wasn't there. The sight of a grown man crying is never good, it's funny but you never forget your first time and yes the first time my backside took to the air was in 1979 in VC-10 XV108 with the 2623 Royal Aux Air Force going to RAF Gatow(Berlin). We took of from brize on a...
