Re: Sunderland Airshow 2017

Sally B, Autogyro and the Tigers Freefall team are down to display on Saturday and Sunday, with the Chinook making an appearance on the Sunday. Also last year the Sunderland City Council apparently overspent by £119,000 and the council needs to make cuts of £74 million by 2020, some are saying that ...

Re: RAF Scampton Air Show 2017

I know we are still a long way out but with what's being listed for Sanicole this could be a very underwhelming show. Channel tunnel already booked!!! If they can share acts it'll be fine, remember 2010 when Waddo clashed with a Belgian show instead of not getting a visit by the Belgian F-16 demo t...

From memory it's displayed at RNAS Yeovilton, RNAS Culdrose & Eastborne in the last 5 years, all of which it used flares at.

And Sunderland as well.

Re: Skylive Airshow 2017

Having checked the press release it does actually say Hornet and not Super Hornet, so either the quote was wrong or it's been corrected. They also clearly say they are in discussions with certain air arms, which as far as I'm concerned is no different to what RIAT do in the build up to the show.

Re: Sunderland International Airshow 2016

One thing you have to remember with the Sunderland Airshow, is that the bay curves round, and there are usually spectators right up to the end point of the curve. Therefore the rules say that the faster Aircraft, have to display beyond the nearest spectator i am not exactly sure how far, display it...

We should all take that attitude at every single air show, oh wait that's what the CAA want an end to air shows.

'hyperbole' - An extreme exaggeration, used to make a point. Surely you've been seeing what's going on this year? People sneak through the fence, the FDD stops the display, the CAA decide that Duxford is too much of a risk, Duxford shows end. It's not an extreme exaggeration, it's one of a number o...

Well I've cancelled all shows for the remainder of the year. Inside is pointless, and outside is just silly currently. Don't see why people feel the need to be a special snowflake. Just stop.....it's not hard!! Judging by what I'm seeing, here and elsewhere, Duxford is screwed. Someone call the hyp...

Re: Grange Rd Duxford fences and closure notice - pics attac

I may have missed something here. How does closing off these areas improve safety? Aircraft have flown down the hill, over Grange Road towards the crowd. No fly zones will not prevent a faulty aircraft/pilot from impacting on the ground, it's all down to physics. There will be another accident at a...

I take it the CAA now attend airshows then? "The CAA informed the AAIB that in 2014 it gave permission for 281 displays and attended 4 of them (1.4%). In 2015 the CAA attended 18 of the 254 displays (7.1%)." The fact this has been highlighted surely means they will be at a lot more shows ...

What's a good vantage point for photography and what time would I have to get there to get a spot. Does it matter as much as an airfield show to be at the front with the display being over the sea? With it being the east coast I'm expecting the sun to be behind for the displays? Take the biggest le...

Haven't the Danes been long time investors in the F-35 program? Surely that has some sway unless the government openly admits to wasting millions on an aircraft they won't even operate.

Forget the reasons for photography and distances, the middle of Duxford is going to be absolutely rammed and if it's warm that's going to be unbelievably uncomfortable.

And is what this is all about isn't it. Who cares about protectiing the public and providing the safest experience possible when it might affect how good your photos are. In light of recent events just think how that sounds. Those that want to take charge of their own risk and stand where they like...
