Re: Chinook over central london, Monday Sept 6th
Dave is correct, they (helicopters) used to land a lot at chelsea barracks too before it closed. You also have to remember that the Heli-lanes following the Thames provide the main routing for RAF/Army helicopters from southern air stations routing to Wattisham or Stanta and vice versa. Also, barrac...

The Falcon 20s frequently work with Seaking ASAC7's in the Bristol Channel/Celtic Sea/St Georges Channel and Atlantic.
The main areas are off the coast of north and west Devon and west Cornwall. So might be one of these sorties.

All part of Ex Iron Wing. The one in Wales was the twice yearly Ex Fast Mover. Iron Wing is ongoing now in Cornwall. targets are on Bodmin Moor. Have seen them quite a bit here usually with the heavies on UR8 airway outbound to the USA in the transition between making a vapour trail and not... so at the lower levels of the trails.
Its just an irredescent vapour...
Clouds have the same effect quite often caused by ice crystals in the air.

The TSW chaps are thinking of moving the FRP away from photographers next year. Due to the issues they had with the last exercise. They put up areas with tape for photogs and some people trood them down and moved closer than they were told to do so. That and other issues concerning other photographe...

Re: Airshow HDR test - #1 Raptor
Have to go with the HDR. Why? Because take a look at it. The detail is drawn out and is more apparent by far. Look at the triangular saw tooth edges/lines mid fuselage compare them both. The detail is all there in the new of which HDR is all about (if you don't over do it). New one is by far better....

UGLY 52/53/54/55 (Apaches) and ROCKWOOD 12/13 (Lynx AH9) They were conducting a special forces support exercise from the MRX on Salisbury Plain. They had a nice FARP set up at Chivenor with several refuelling points. SF TACP (callsign Mayhem) was mobile in the area around Exmoor. Their AO was around...

I heard the Dutch were extremely well behaved, and it was one British chap who arrived later on in the day who was stood with them got a telling off, and when I say telling off, it was always polite. As an aside, following the rule of not standing in the direction of aircraft flight was rather tric...

We were with a Dutch guy all day on Wednesday and he was very polite, and a good laugh. He knew what was okay and what wasn't. Only four of us there all morning until mid afternoon when it got busier. The Dutch chap (Perry) was telling me that he was asking people not to walk infront of the helicopt...

One more second? I reckon his cockpit smelt of a certain smell afterwards... did you hear everyones shutters go when we realised what was happening?

Nice! I hated the look of the Wildcat until today. With all the photos of it at Westlands without the kit on it looked pants. With the turret on the front it looks quite nice! I only had 100mm lens today so couldn't catch it. Glad someone got it close up! Fiasco at the field... and a bit of a heart ...

Re: Quiet Mach Loop for 6 weeks!
Welsh Rider takes place over the ranges and not the loop which is miles north. Any exercise taking place in Wales usually means the loop will be quiet but Welsh Rider doesn't affect the loop as its so far south of it. Its a flare/chaff exercise and always uses the south Wales ranges, this time being...
