Re: Any swifts/swallows yet?

There was a recent news item that a lot got caught in storms over the Med, so numbers will sadly be down this year. There weren't that many around last year either.

Re: North Weald Spring/Summer 2019 (Updated)

Nice to see some shots from the Southern ORP. Shooting on Runway 02 further down isn't easy because of the light.

It was my final day at North Weald on Friday, as I have now retired after ten years on the Ops Team, so will be looking forward to your coverage Dan to keep me up to date!

Fireworks and North Weald

The Epping & Ongar Round Table held a fireworks display at North Weald Airfield on Saturday 2 November. After a stormy day, the wind did drop a bit for the show, although it was still spotting with rain. The shots were taken from the top of the Tower with 3 second exposures at f8, ISO 200. The w...

Argentinian pilot reunited with his UH-1 Huey at North Weald

Lt Col Francisco 'Pancho' Ramirez last saw his UH-1 Huey helicopter at Port Stanley in 1982. On last Thursday (10 October) he was flying in it again at North Weald.... Back in March we were contacted by former Royal Navy Sea King pilot Bill Fewtrell with an enquiry about who operated the UH-1 Huey h...

'Alien Formation' at North Weald

A Puma helicopter – XW224 – from 230 Squadron at RAF Benson and two Chinooks – ZK559 and ZK560– from 7 Squadron at RAF Odiham, callsign 'Alien Formation', came in for a brief visit on Sunday 13 October to drop off some passengers after performing a flypast over the NFL game at Tottenham. Re: Saturday WindFest at JetFest

Nice selection of shots from the day. I spent a frustrating morning waiting at the Northern End with a long list of timed PPR arrivals, which either cancelled or just didn't come due to the weather. I think only eight eventually made it in out of over twenty due.

Re: Graf Zeppelin's Day Job... (Or 'Tote-ing for Business!')

Congratulations on completing an outstanding project. I was fortunate to have a tour around the control room when it was still a building site, after an LUAWG meeting at Northolt, and it was impressive even then.

Re: Gatwick Airport Closed Due to Drones

This is not the first time that Gatwick has been affected by drones. Last July is was shut twice. Look at the NATS video to see the chaos caused then. m I am a member of the London and Stansted Local Airspace Infringement Teams as part of my duties at North Weald, so I am aware of the variety of inf...

Re: Friday Jet Fest arrivals and Night Shoot North Weald

I needed to get a specific shot of the F1 for the Airfield newsletter, and being on the other side of the runway at least I had the sun behind me. Not sure what bang seats are used in the F1. The two-seaters have Folland seats, which are based on Saab ones rather than MB. As it was just a taxi run C...

Then on to the night shoot. The Herts Air Ambulance returned while this was going on and lit up the Gnats with its searchlight. I've only done a couple of other night shoots, so it was a bit of a learning curve! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v165/YakRider/September%202018/Night%203-1000_zpseqxcy...

SUNDAY VISITORS PLEASE NOTE: Anyone intending to come to the Jet Fest on Sunday needs to be aware that the Airfield is also hosting the Players car show at Weald Aviation. This will involve about 5000 boy racers, who, from past experience over many years, will not treat the Airfield with respect. Yo...

Jet Provost G-VIVM from a different perspective

Dan got some shots at the weekend. I was working on Tuesday when G-VIVM was out again for a local sortie and some circuits. It has been very active recently. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v165/YakRider/August%202018/JP%201-1000_zpshwitgwgu.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v165/YakRider/Augu...
