Re: Trumpeter 1/48 F-100D Super Sabre

Is that the full set Derek? They look fab  Imagine seeing an aerobatics team flying the F-4  The Blue Angels also flew the mighty Phantom. Imagine a flypast of both.... They did indeed https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50076761567_4d202338b2_b.jpg 20200703_165116edit by Derek N.Ferguso...

Re: Trumpeter 1/48 F-100D Super Sabre

Not quite a full set. I'm missing the F-84F that they used between the F-84G and F-100 and the F-105 that they used for only six shows.

The 5m x 5m area will be interesting. My car is 4.9m long. Hopefully parked near some shorter cars....

Hasegawa 1/48 F-4J Phantom

Carrying on the Blue Angels theme, this is Hasegawa's F-4J. Not much to be said, pretty decent kit and finished with Vallejo Deep Sky and CAM PRO decals. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50063170987_ed8f1d97b3_b.jpg z20200630_155352 by Derek N.Ferguson , on Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65...

1/48 F11F-1 Tiger

An odd one this. I've had it for a long time and I think it's a very old Lindberg kit. It goes together quite well but not much in the way of detail. The decals were surprisingly good but as usual I struggled with the gloss finish. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50062914166_2854862ea4_b.jpg z20...

Re: First Show on July 18

All the useful information is here and it looks like all necessary precations are being taken. https://www.shuttleworth.org/events/drivein-airshow-july/ I'm going to give it a go. The timing and access makes it better for us and I haven't been to an Old Warden show for many years. It is probably the...

Although basically OK, it looks a bit muddled and a bit amateurish, certainly lacks the professional design touch in my opinion. Sometimes less is more.
Agreed. I think budget airline is close to the mark - and quite appropriate.

On the rare occasion when we venture out we've been doing our best to maintain at least 2m. Others seem to think it doesn't apply to them.

Re: Boris Force One?

The aircraft is in for its scheduled maintenance overhaul which will require a complete strip and repaint, the cost is a total of £900,000 all in, it has already been budgeted for and is inline with planned works. Do you have a source for that? I was having a quick google last night to try and find...

Sprayed Vallejo steel and aluminium with random touches of dark grey and black. Sprayed at a low pressure.

Trumpeter 1/48 F-100D Super Sabre

Next up, my attempt at Trumpeter's F-100D. I had built Monogram's version as the famous Triple Zilch years ago and I fancied another go. This time as a Thunderbirds aircraft. It's a fairly simple kit that didn't take long to put together. The metal finished I struggled with but ended up with Vallejo...

We've just postponed our big USA trip trip this August until 2021. It was unlikely that we would be able to do all of the things we wanted so we've put it off until next year.

Monogram 1/39 Wright Flyer

Another long-term stash lurker and a surprisingly easy kit to make. No cockpit, no decals, all parts painted before assembly and then stick together. Rigged with elastic thread. The odd scale was to make it fit the box I assume. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49976678127_07a325a477_b.jpg 202006...

We get loads of stuff from Ikea but I have no idea what possessed people to want to go yesterday. Shopping like that is the last thing I want to do at the moment.

Hasegawa 1/48 F-14D Tomcat

My latest effort. Not a particularly easy build with one two "challenging" areas. The landing gear bays being one of them. Finished in Vallejo light and dark ghost gray with decals from Mil-Spec depicting the CAG aircraft from VF-11 USS Carl Vinson. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49951797116_6a...
