Re: Airline brinksmanship over Covid-19

The perils of dealing with small operators. It's not just small operators; I have a return Eurotunnel trip that I booked last Summer (because I like to plan ahead). They're allowing me to rebook, but only within a year of the date on which I made the original booking (as opposed to within a year of...

Re: Germany buying new Typhoons, Super Hornets and Growlers

Im just a it confused that in the days of stand off missiles, stealth jets and drones, the concept of flying a manned aircraft over a heavily defended enemy target to lob a free fall gravity nuke onto it, is even considered a vital role..... surely that concept should have gone out with the F117s ar...

A white elephant used to refer to something which isnt useful, as the US Navy carrier force has actually been flying combat missions since at least desert storm in 1991 non stop, they surely cannot fall in that category? An aircraft carrier with no combat planes of it's own, and a hole in the bottom...

So it's not as if people will really miss anything, is it? YOU might not think so, but the wider, general airshow going public adores them. Indeed to many, they ARE an airshow. They also serve as a symbol of something for this country to be proud of at occasions such as Royal flypasts and the like....

Re: Changed to the USAF Demo Teams

Even if they did appear in the UK this year it would only likely be riat, where pyros are not permitted anyway, so no big loss !
Interesting choice with the F5 too, as apart from a few A's trialled in Vietnam, the F5 has only served in the training /aggressor role in the USAF....

It would be interesting to know, what, if anything, the 'drone dome' system detected during the short closure on the afternoon flights resumed..... my hunch is bugger all, hence the rapid reopening versus another long shut down

Re: F35 in the news again

Lakenheath will be a large F35A base in a few years. Most of our close neighbors are and will be with the F35A. So a central serviceing hub will prove cheaper. US ones will be serviced in the USA like the F15 is, and as already pointed out once in this thread already, European ones are to be servic...

Re: Airseekers leaving Waddington?

Great news for Fairford, also hearing the 352nd SOG may well end up there as well not Germany now due to CV-22 noise issues. I spoke to some of the SOG crew at RIAT and they pretty much said that Fairford appears to be the most likely cadidate. Germany had tightened the noise regs only weeks before...

Re: XV582 NOT going to Bruntingthorpe...*UPDATED

Was surprised to see an aerial view of Upper Heyford a few weeks back with no cars on it, as this was used for that purpose for years, so Brunty might be equally devoid of them in times ahead. I also thought Gary Spoors owned the desert Bucc too, be interesting to see if that vacates Brunty as well....
