Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread
There is no Chinook Display Team or dedicated crew for 2024. There will be a small number of 'role demos' for some events dependant on crew availability.

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread
There are plenty of civilian events in Switzerland the team support. The event last year where two of the team came together was not an airshow but a Yodelling Festival! I don't know how the cancellation of one military event equated to no Swiss airshows at all. https://www.swiss-wings.ch/schweizer-...

Re: Abingdon Air & Country Show 2024
Far more puzzling about the SwAFHF Calendar and the Flying Bulls calendar (https://www.flyingbulls.at/de/events-stories/events) is that neither are advertising any presence at Midlands Air Festival despite that show pushing their participation for months. Or is Midlands just riding on the coattails ...

Re: Death of the Bournemouth Air Festival
Biggin does have limited slots for flights these days and prefers to favour based operations and business jets. There were also issues related to the development of the new hangars that may have played a role. The Red Arrows have not visited for a long time, even when supporting Folkestone and Headc...

Re: Death of the Bournemouth Air Festival
Eastbourne is funded by donations (about 400k-450k) each year, while Bournemouth was funded (partly?) by the BCP Council Ok thanks. What I meant was that if as stated elsewhere all 3 shows use the same source to book the displays if Bournemouth goes under it doesn't look great. Not strictly true. T...

Re: Bournemouth Air Festival 2023
There already are VIP areas on the beach at Bournemouth which are very good and clearly are good business. Bournemouth also has the Patrons organisation which as well as providing funding also have a significant voice. Every seaside event is currently going through a process to become more financial...

Re: Bournemouth Air Festival 2023
Sadly, with the low cloud and sea mist it is a waiting game until the conditions improve to the minima for some of the displays and there's a distinctive horizon. Some of the lighter, slower aircraft may be able to do something later on before the light fades. At least with the airspace being needed...

Re: Belgian Air Force Days 2023 - Kleine-Brogel Airbase
The Midnight Hawks have been replaced by a similar jet team so no time lost there, except on Sunday which already had its own Jet Team and unique flypasts so was a longer day. And anyway, KB being KB you probably need a little flex time to counter the fog delay in the morning! ;-) Anyway it can't be...

I doubt the cancellations will amount to many gaps. Stop worrying about things beyond your control and just enjoy what is on offer.

Re: Belgian Air Force Days 2023 - Kleine-Brogel Airbase
The Belgians do like to promote personal fitness at their events. Expect a lot of walking between the car park and the display line to compensate for the high calorie foods on offer in the showground. By contrast RIAT car parking (even the outer reaches of the blue car park) is very close to the mai...

The Shuttleworth Trust has had to make a lot of changes due to its financial predicament after COVID. A lot of money was being spent and the income didn't keep up. Those who was SVAS members will have seen the reports from the Trustees and some of the difficult decisions they have had to make includ...

Re: Belgian Air Force Days 2023 - Kleine-Brogel Airbase
I think there is a simple (polite) answer to this. Just as with RIAT, what BAFDays posts on its own website and through the Insider(R) emails is what is participating at Kleine Brogel. And everyone gets to know that at the same time. Anything anyone else posts without a link to BAFDays is just a wis...

Not sure your listing will prove too accurate with some changes to the 'self-confirms' - not least the Royal Navy participation as the Black Cats/Wildcat display has been withdrawn for the season.
