It would certainly be noisy in the PC6.

Thanks for that. Even with a very accurate auto pilot that must be a boring flight

Survey Aircraft Over Scotland

Today I noticed on ADS-B a Luxembourg Registered king air flying a line search pattern a 13000ft. that eventually covered the whole of Fife then I spotted a German Registered PC 6 Over central Scotland flying a very tight pattern at about 1600 ft. Any ideas what we have that is so interesting up her...

Re: Scampton Airshow 2018

The visit this year was not only to see an air display but also to visit an iconic RAF base. Both were disappointing. I am no longer a regular attender at air displays and I suspect the display line restrictions of even the most spirited display probably means that the actual display routines are no...

Re: RAF Scampton Air Show 2017

Why would they need to do that? They have earlybird tickets, so if you enjoyed it and you want to go back next year you'll get one of those. They don't NEED to do it. It would be a nice gesture to acknowledge that their ticket prices were high this year for what was on offer and say thanks to suppo...

Re: RAF Scampton Air Show 2017

Assuming that the show next year is more successful in getting display items which will justify the price and given that the organisers have the email addresses of those who bought tickets for the experimental first show what about an offer of discounted tickets for the next show before they go on g...

Re: RAF Scampton Air Show 2017

Obviously it's a no brainer about the paternity leave thing, an airshow is not something to miss out those first special days for, even if you are a Red Arrows pilot! I wonder if it's ever been considered that one or two of the pilots could work up either a solo or pairs Hawk demo in addition to th...

Re: RAF Scampton Air Show 2017

You're forgetting multiple reasons for advanced ticket only. To name but a few. The organisers have to plan for the "worst" and assume a sell out, they can't just guess the show will be undersold and put tickets on the gates. Perhaps the organisers have designed the show to cater for a sp...

Re: RAF Scampton Air Show 2017

rather than being needed to control the numbers each day it has far more to do with getting the cash up front so that it does not matter if the lack of an attractive final flying programme discourages people from turning up. All I can say is you're very very wrong and a hell of a lot of work has go...

Re: RAF Scampton Air Show 2017

Fairly clear to see the logic behind advance ticket sales only in this case. I am travelling 300 miles from home and paying for an overnight stay based on pre bought high price tickets thinking that the ticket price indicated a great line up and a likely early sell out. Now it appears that the ticke...

Re: The naughty field debate...a new twist

May I suggest that at least part of the solution would be to make the view from inside the event at tad more exciting than it has become of late. I am sure there would still be some who just have to get that bit closer at any cost but I would suggest that when, as far as my doctor can determine, a r...

Re: FAO Andy Armstrong - How To Solve A Problem Like RIAT...

I was a regular RIAT attender in the past when you could jump on your motorcycle at some ungodly hour and turn up at the gate to buy a ticket having chosen the best day weather wise or the only day available that fitted in with last minute work schedule changes. When I had to start picking the day i...

Re: 2014: The State Of Our Hobby - a UKAR survey

As with all such lifetime interests you have to view my comments through the perspective of "its always not like it used to be" . I think that the airshows I visited 30 years ago were much more exiting, the aircraft were much more varied and they flew a lot closer to the crowds. The sun al...

Re: Lightning XS422

It will be able to fly again but not in the country of its birth unfortunately. We are now so risk averse in the UK in relation to air displays that even if authority was given for it to fly here it would be so emasculated and distanced from crowds that it might as well stay on the ground in a museum.

A white elephant and a tax payer subsidy for Ryanair. Never really a future for Prestwick once CAT III landing aids made foggy landings possible at your destination airport.

Not just on here that the welcome at Panshanger is commented upon. However if you read the whole thread it would suggest that the lady running the airfield now might be a bit more reasonable to deal with if you try to visit.

B 737 Simulator

Landing a B737 simulator at EGBB in poor visibility cut with some FSX footage just for fun. I got 5 hours at http://www.virtual-aerospace.com/ as a 60th birthday present from the family. A great place to test your FSX skills in a more realistic environment. Nice people and lots of fun.

A Super Hornet in the hand is worth two F35s in construction when the carriers are launched.

My son in law is a mechanic with the Lotus (former Renault) team. They use all methods of transport because they need about 30 tons of equipment for the non European races. Some of the equipment is sent by sea and the critical stuff like chassis that needs worked on until as close to the race date a...

Re: Help needed for my A-Level Coursework - Hawker Hunter

Here goes. I am 60 years old and the hunter was in service at Leuchars when I was a child. It was the first swept wing jet I saw regularly in the skies and I am sure that until I knew better every jet noise had to be a Hawker Hunter. In the fifties and into the sixties am lot of major airshows like ...
