Re: Microsoft Flight Simulator Returns

To be fair DCS is big money too.
This will be a huge hit and they know they can name their price to a large extent. I am in!

A new and interesting angle on the battle. Seemed that they filmed much of the colour footage at last year's Duxford Airshow.

Re: Drive-in airshows?

I'm sure the only reasons we left the car at Mildenhall was for the loo and to get burgers And miss the chance to get up close with a Blackbird dripping fuel, a B-1, a row of Phantoms and Lightnings, a Tomcat, etc etc etc? I was only a kid in those days, the trip to statics was strictly only the on...

Re: Drive-in airshows?

I think the concept will work well at OW, certainly would not expect the behaviours you describe at the Shuttleworth Collection.

Despite the scepticism on here, seems Shuttleworth think it's a goer!

Re: Big jet TV YouTube channel

I'd like to offer a different perspective on this, not in terms of being a stereotypical enthusiast as seems to be described in this thread but more from stepping back and looking at the bigger picture. So to begin, I'm all for somebody engaging people to become interested in the hobby. His target ...

Re: Big jet TV YouTube channel

Exactly! The elitism and petty jealousies here and elsewhere are frankly embarrassing. God forbid that a newcomer to the hobby comes here and posts something, a photo, a video etc, and makes a mistake. They would be dismissed and roundly criticised by some on this forum. To the point they never dar...

Re: Big jet TV YouTube channel

But he does know the difference between a Hurricane and a Spitfire. The error he made was an incorrect recollection from 2007 re which aeroplane crashed at Shoreham. That was an honest mistake, no-one is suggesting otherwise. And most of his stuff is free, as is being repeatedly stated. He can hardl...

Re: Big jet TV YouTube channel

Yes he was adamant and yes he was wrong re the BBMF, I do not defend that, but as you can tell from his main YouTube channel, civvie is his main area of knowledge, he has started to dabble in mil but not really his bag. My wider point is borne out by this kind of reply, enthusiasts criticising a suc...

Re: Big jet TV YouTube channel

Yes he did make an error saying a BBMF Hurricane crashed at Shoreham when it was a Breighton based machine piloted by Brian Brown as I recall. But from what I saw of the Coningsby show he was not bad on his facts generally. He is quite new to military hence discussing basic differences between Spit ...

Re: Big jet TV YouTube channel

Exactly, I sometimes watch his shows by dipping in but would probably not sit through the whole 6 or 8 hours. He saw a gap in the market, filled it and fair play to him. I don't think he can do no wrong, on the contrary he has made errors, but just wanted to defend him from the bashing he was gettin...

Re: Big jet TV YouTube channel

I don't mean he tells jokes as such, but he comes over as a likeable and engaging bloke. I have seen that some have an axe to grind for various reasons which I don't know the history of but I judge him on the shows alone, having never met the man. Nowadays, to be a successful vlogger it is not just ...

Re: Big jet TV YouTube channel

Try Daz at Aviation in action, better photographer/videographer, better knowledge & an all round better guy Not heard of him but perhaps if his output is of high quality he needs to raise his profile, like BJTV has. Looking at comparisons of YouTube views shows he seriously needs to get more subscr...

Re: Big jet TV YouTube channel

Well it seems plenty of people don't find the shows dreary and you mention a better photographer doing a similar thing, pretty sure there isn't one. Unless I am missing something.
No one forces you to watch, I just don't get those on here who knock him, just don't watch, simple.

Re: Big jet TV YouTube channel

Very much enjoyed his show at Coningsby today. His commitment to travel and wait around for hours on end for his viewers is commendable, and that is how he’s been able to make a living from it. Sad reality is the people who are most at grief with the man and his shows, are the ones who are most env...

Re: Big jet TV YouTube channel

True, but there have been at least several occasions where he has been asked to move on due to not having the right permissions for filming, or when he cut the hedge at (?) Manchester/Heathrow or wherever it was. In other words, he can get on with it if he wants, but he shouldn't be doing things to...

Re: Big jet TV YouTube channel

Agree, and the snobbery amongst some enthusiasts is appalling.
As you say, no-one is being forced to watch his shows.

He is an engaging presenter, no doubt. Most enthusiasts could not present like he does, yes he makes mistakes but it is good he does not pretend to know everything.

Re: Big jet TV YouTube channel

Having seen the feeds a few times I can see his appeal to people, he comes over as an average bloke who loves to watch planes and many people identify with that, he does not come over as a know it all enthusiast so people can relate to him. Yes he is mad and not always as funny as he might think but...

Re: Big jet TV YouTube channel

Not sure why everyone is down on the guy, he runs free feeds from LHR most days and I often watch for an hour or two. He knows a bit about civil but guessing less about mil. He obviously pays or at least has agreements with local hotels and farmers fields to let him film at LHR. The mil stuff is pay...
