Re: Southend derelict aircraft fire.
They had been deteriorating for years, I think I have some photos somewhere before they were moved. Looking at the photos on Flickr, there is nothing really left of it. Not sure what happened to the Bonanza that was moved at the same time, (unless it is still there amongst the undergrowth). the Bon...

Re: Southend derelict aircraft fire.
I am guessing that it is one of the HS.748’s that were in the grounds of the Skylark Hotel. Haven’t been around that way for years, however the last I saw they were heavily stripped and disappearing into the undergrowth. https://www.essexlive.news/news/essex-news/southend-airport-disused-aircraft-d...

Re: Anyone room for a V bomber cockpit?
Also how much would transport be? as for 4 cockpits plus spares it'll tot up. Would depend how far you’re taking them, of course, but I’d estimate you’d have to budget £1.5K per cockpit at least. Mind you, if you’ve shelled out £250-300K to buy them, I can’t imagine that would be an issue. blimey -...

Re: Lakenheath 15-12-2020
thank you for those kind comments, there are a few extra angles available at present with the taxiway closed as that means the aircraft go the long way round via the northside to get to the 24 holding point. Covid and lockdowns permitting I shall try to get back again before they finish the works Andy

Re: RAF Lakenheath
very nice pics - I was there as well , we must have been in the same area near the forest entrance. We were certainly treated to some nice flying, a nice end to 2020 aviation for me as I'm now in tier 4 in Essex so hoping for clear weather and Stansted outbounds but forecast not looking very promisi...

Lakenheath 15-12-2020
I spent last Tuesday at Lakenheath for a pre planned pre xmas meet up with a friend, we couldn't have picked a better day, beautiful weather and lots of action - a 22 ship launch between 12.30 and 13.00 plus 3 stragglers about 45 minutes later. Got a nice fix of aviation fumes!!! There are works in ...

Re: another one bites the dust - Brunty's Super Guppy to be cut up
the guppy lost it's outer wings this week and apparently several parts of the airframe are going to NASA as spares for their example. The cockpit is also going for preservation somewhere - I have an idea where but not seen anything public about it so I'm not going to speculate. My superguppy website...

another one bites the dust - Brunty's Super Guppy to be cut up
Rather sad news as I've been associated with the group doing restoration work since they started 11 years ago as I ran their website and forum. this has just been posted on the project facebook page (Super Guppy Restoration Project) by the project leader Evening all. I have an update and I'm afraid ...

One of the world’s largest planes suffered serious damage after it skidded off the runway during a botched emergency landing in Russia. Miraculously, no casualties were reported on the aircraft or on the ground despite part of an engine crashing through the roof of a warehouse near the airport on F...

after a 14 year break F1 returned to Imola this weekend for the Emilia-Romagna GP, seems all the drivers are raving about the track so lets hope for a good race. Re: BA retires entire Boeing 747 fleet
Duxford turned down a Nimrod and a Hercules because they had no where to park them so all this talk of a 747 going to Duxford and its runway lengths is meaningless. noted Brian and agree that there is limited space available BUT assuming the runway could take it, would the attraction of a 747 to Jo...

I've only been around the area during Wings and Wheels but there's a small flat area N of the runway which soon becomes a substantial hill with a couple of minor access roads and some farming / residential land none of which is presumably up for grabs. This is Green Belt after all you can't just bu...

Can I also add that what the owner wants to do may no be to the liking of the local authority. Planning and building control rules are there for a reason, turning an aircraft into a habitable home will not be easy. It is one thing to turn a bizjet into a caravan, or a helicopter into a garden shed,...

Andrew, Excellent shots of a rare beast! I must try and find this lane next time I'm there - did you use the Ash Pub carpark?
