Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

A couple that used to work at my place, posted some photos on Facebook a couple of days ago from Cape Town “Starting out South African Adventure.” I thought then it was a bit early to start going on far flung holidays again whilst the pandemic is still in full swing in many countries. It’s probably...

another one bites the dust - Brunty's Super Guppy to be cut up

Rather sad news as I've been associated with the group doing restoration work since they started 11 years ago as I ran their website and forum. this has just been posted on the project facebook page (Super Guppy Restoration Project) by the project leader Evening all. I have an update and I'm afraid ...

One of the world’s largest planes suffered serious damage after it skidded off the runway during a botched emergency landing in Russia. Miraculously, no casualties were reported on the aircraft or on the ground despite part of an engine crashing through the roof of a warehouse near the airport on F...

Re: F1 ( and other motorsports ) 2020

after a 14 year break F1 returned to Imola this weekend for the Emilia-Romagna GP, seems all the drivers are raving about the track so lets hope for a good race. I was at the track 3 weeks ago in the Parc Aqua-minerale which is inside the circuit - my daughter lives in the hills above Imola - we can...

Re: BA retires entire Boeing 747 fleet

Duxford turned down a Nimrod and a Hercules because they had no where to park them so all this talk of a 747 going to Duxford and its runway lengths is meaningless. noted Brian and agree that there is limited space available BUT assuming the runway could take it, would the attraction of a 747 to Jo...

Re: BA retires entire Boeing 747 fleet

I've only been around the area during Wings and Wheels but there's a small flat area N of the runway which soon becomes a substantial hill with a couple of minor access roads and some farming / residential land none of which is presumably up for grabs. This is Green Belt after all you can't just bu...

Re: Blackburn Beverley anyone?

Can I also add that what the owner wants to do may no be to the liking of the local authority. Planning and building control rules are there for a reason, turning an aircraft into a habitable home will not be easy. It is one thing to turn a bizjet into a caravan, or a helicopter into a garden shed,...

Andrew, Excellent shots of a rare beast! I must try and find this lane next time I'm there - did you use the Ash Pub carpark? I don't think this lane is noted on your Stansted guide on Civilian Aviation. It's the track next to the Ash Roger, unless i'm actually going in the pub for a coffee or bite...

I'm hearing that the Rossiya rumour is wide of the mark. I guess we'll soon find out. Very nice, if rather sad, photograph. It won't be the same without the 747. It seems that you are far more accurate than the origin of the 'news'. It seems to have started from a post on Flyer last evening but tha...

I think all those at Kemble will be for the chop......and have all flown for the last time, given that a couple of them flew in there in the past couple of weeks from storage at Cardiff. Some of those still at LHR and maybe still at Cardiff will likely be the best of the fleet and may find a new ow...

Covid casualties - British Airways B.747s at Kemble

Covid has brought about the demise of British Airways' mighty Boeing 747 fleet after 49 years of operations, they were one of the last major operators of the type. These are 5 of 7 currently stored at Kemble awaiting their fate - probably at the hands of the scrapman although BA hope to find new own...
