Re: Season Premiere - King & Country Air Show (Sunday 7 May 2023)
Not sure. Hopefully they’ve abandoned that ridiculous idea of holding us in front of the entrance for two hours before they allow us in-site. but why should they open early just because you choose to get there 2 hours plus before the gates open? the volunteers have a lot to prepare before the gates...

Re: Vulcan XH558 to leave Doncaster, possible ferry flight
from memory one said 10 days time and another said 11 day so was it sometime over the coming weekend , maybe with a reserve day? This was the message, posted on 21 March. I have it in good authority that it will take off for a final ferry flight a week on Saturday in 11 days time. In the morning, b...

Re: Vulcan XH558 to leave Doncaster, possible ferry flight
so the person who had it on good authority that there would be a ferry flight out in the next few days didn't have it on very good authority at all!!! I believe they said the ferry flight was scheduled for a very specific date... from memory one said 10 days time and another said 11 day so was it s...

ooops, yes it will be closer to 3 hours for me (I'm close to Stansted so western side of Essex) didn't realise quite how far into Yorkshire it is. normally I only go to Doncaster or nearby.
Sorry for making it sound easier that it is!

Re: Flying Legends 2023 - 15-16 July - Venue TBA
According to a FB post, the airfield wasn't available for use on the usual dates so they had to go with RIAT weekend Wings TV Channel · I was told that Church Fenton was booked on the usual Legends dates so there was no option to go a week earlier, in future it won’t clash with RIAT they do have a ...

and now some from my second visit last week on Wednesday 2nd November, this time they were operating on runway 24 so I got some different angles from Monday. a sad day and the end of an era - Finningley's last day as an airport
Today is a very sad day, Doncaster / RAF Finningley switches off it's runway lights for the last time as the airport closes with (scandalous) plans to convert it to a warehouse park. I first visited there in 1977 for the Queen's Silver Jubilee Review of the Royal Air Force although had passed it on ...

RAF Museum Cosford 10-09-2022
I visited the RAF museum on my way home from Wales for my first visit in a long time - a chance to see some of the changes. Some positives and some negatives in my opinion. Here's a selection of my photos starting outside: a nice gate guardian, actually G-AOVS which never saw RAF service: https://li...

this might help an, something I wrote a few years back now. https://www.civilianaviation.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=30594 Some might have changed as time moves on so worth checking out by googling first if you can. My favourite is the Bedfont & Feltham Football ground for 27L arrivals,...

absolutely superb, hard to pick a favourite although I'm particularly envious of the 9 ship Tornado photo - if only they were still flying in the UK thanks for such a wonderful post. I've been to Desenzano and it's a beautiful place - I must go back. I normally go to Imola to see my daughter but it'...

I see we have USAF C17 and VH3 in Northolt, ready for Biden and a Brazilian AF E190 coming to Farnborough which may or may not have anything to do with the occasion The Brazilian went to Stansted (maybe a short cut  ) also the two Australian A330s are being reported as going to Stansted o...

4 days on the Mach Loop , w/c 5th September 2022
I spent a week chasing aircraft going to, from and in Wales last week and spent 4 days on Cad East (it would have been 5 but national circumstances meant no training flights on Friday so I did other things instead). the weather was variable (Iraqi - sunny and shi-ite) but I stuck it out on the wet d...

Thanks Dan - a nice addition. They're making a nice little event out of this and with the added interest of the Reds, typhoon & BBMF coming and going to their displays.
I believe the reds are doing a flypast at some point as well.

it's advertised on the Shuttleworth.org website and you need a ticket to attend. Unless you are a member you now need a 30 day ticket at £17.50 (almost cheaper to join but maybe that's the idea) here's a link: https://www.shuttleworth.org/product/agatheringofmoths/ Andy I thought that £17.50 is the...

I've mentioned this in the post about the BBMF , Typhoon and Reds basing themselves at Southend this weekend but it's a bit hidden amongst the thread discussion so I've put it here on a separate and obviously titled topic, Should be a good event for just £7 (members free), various cockpits and other...
