The bread and butter of the Salisbury plain training area came out in force today on the first day back after christmas. Stunning light and after thinking we would draw a blank the trusty Squirrel and Lynx came out to play - nice to hang around with MikeB, Andy-S and Mictheslick today... Lynx doing ...

Really not sure if this works or not after seeing the sunset forecast for 4:15 and MAG222 departing at 4:10 i decided to risk a sunset shot...but didnit realise they were on 06 and MAG222 was 15 mins late (maybe down to the C-130J problem?) Off topic: Does anyone know what that inbound just was? Not sure if it was the weather but sounded like a turbo prop then when it went over sounded like a heavy jet - flytecomm doesnt have any flightplans for a DC-8 - repat c-17 maybe?

edit: Ascot 5074 went from Lyneham > North Devon > Paisley area > Devon > Lyneham - would love to know what important sortie that would be at xmas, just looks like a navex on paper...
