Wonderful shots!
Must admit I just love the "Deltics"! Would be great if the operator introduced the "Thistle Crest" above the headcode, would set off nicely the early two-tone green livery!

RIAT '17 In Photos
Spent an enjoyable 5 days down in Fairford meeting up with friends old and new. Here's my take in no particular order. Showground on the Friday then spent the following two days relaxing at Kempsford although somewhat disappointed that the Mango Cider didn't make an appearance behind the bar! Monday...

Living History!
Popped down to the Severn Valley Railway last Sunday for a couple of hours to see what the 1940's Weekend Event was all about. Thanks to the South Staffs Living History Group for providing an entertaining afternoon, although some of the "set pieces" were a little too realistic it has to be...

Re: Canon EF 500mm f4 help
Hand holding a 500 is probably the best way as I've found mounted on a tripod/monopod quite restrictive trying to keep up with the action. It is heavy even after a relatively short period of time pointing it up at the sky so picking your moments is probably the best bet? It's totally different and t...

Very nice selection of shots Dan, No.4 and in particular No.7 for me, unusual angle on the latter.

Re: PA474 comes back to life...
Not sure if this is of any help but I do remember about 3 months after purchasing a 50D from new I had to download an update from Canon to correct a pretty horrendous colour cast, in my case I perceived it as pink/magenta. Whether that update still exists and is available I don't know? It sorted the...

It's down Green Lane Wes, a single track road which is on slightly higher ground but does offer quite a nice panoramic view overlooking Cosford.

Here's a few shots from the weekend at Cosford including a few arrivals and Sunday in Albrighton whilst tending the veg plot! Re: RAF Cosford Air Show 2017 - [Main Topic]
Perhaps a B-1 if it's just a flypast, but as it says 'flying display' I'm going for an Osprey. I'm not aware of anything else outside the US that's able to perform a display as such. Thinking along the same lines! Distinct difference between "flypast" and "display" I would have ...

Re: RAF Cosford Air Show 2017 - [Main Topic]
How can it be anything other than detrimental to the viewing experience?? Since the '20s Airshow displays have been aligned on a display axis - usually the runway with crowd along that. Every display is designed around that model. Will this secondary display axis need centreline markers and I presu...

At the end of the day, and as I said previously, let's wait and see? We don't really know how moving the display box/line westerly will impact on the overall "experience" until it's witnessed? Granted, on first reading the statement it does sound all doom and gloom but that might not neces...

Why not just wait for an official response rather than making things up to make the organising team look bad. You've got a fellow staffer a few posts previous saying the same thing, and they're not alone. Thinking along the same lines, this decision was possibly taken months ago, if not longer? If ...

I fear a Social Media backlash now, announcing this once people have already purchased their tickets. If the weather turns out nasty and two of the more exciting displays are distant, then J public won't be so quick purchasing their tickets for the 2018 show if there is one. Thinking along the same li...

From what I can work out the new display line will intersect the A464 either just before or after Whiston Cross thus avoiding over flying Albrighton. Can't see any other alternative at the moment. Grandstand view, if in the vicinity of the Cricket Club!
