Some of them couldn't find Duxford, and were seen in the distance only!

Re: King's Birthday flypast 17th June (aka Trooping the Colour)
So, the diversion of the heavies would explain why they didn't follow their usual route back to Brize, after I travelled to just north of the A40, hoping to catch them.

Not sure if this has already been mensioned, but when 'Just Jane' flies, it can rock up with any civvy Spit or Hurri, anytime. So no need for MoD operation then.

Re: Duxford dates 2023
I'd had an inclination to revisit the museum at some point, so when the flying day was advertised with a chance to go on board the 146 CC.2 and to see a Dakota flying, I was swayed. The Dak flew some low passes, and top side views! The airliner collection is only usually open for boarding on show da...

I'd love them to get Historic Helo's yellow Sea King back, and the Whirlwind. Both of which I've yet to see.

Re: Air show degradation
Core shows which I can't see disappearing are Duxford, RIAT and Old Warden. Good attendance will continue at these shows, as there is always something interesting to see, and so they'll pay for themselves. They may be all we'll have left in the future.

Re: July 3rd - Fly Navy
I think a lot of folk get there early, so as to be parked within the main airfield area, so you can view from your car - as I did! Was great to see the Wessex/ Sea King and Gazelles were superb. Catalina really stood out against that dark sky, and the rain shower didn't dampen my spirits! I think ad...

Watched the Navy helos arrive at Benson, and saw the full Helicopter contingent depart southward from the main runway, before turning west and flying past us north-east....Then saw 'em on the telly. I'm happy.

Re: Season Opener
Weather was very slightly better than I thought it would be - stayed cloudy and a cold breeze but there was a glimmer of brightness for a while in the afternoon. I was worried for the Catalina - thought it might have to land on water somewhere! A great start to the season, and the gentle breeze allo...

Really glad this RAF 146 has been preserved. I remember them coming into service in 1986.
Such a shame its predecessor - Andover XS790 was not preserved...or another HS.748.

Re: Blackburn Beverley anyone?
I'm sure I read something a while ago saying it would be the first post war British aircraft to go into production of which there would be no complete survivors if its broken up. I'm guessing this now counts if the engines are going separate ways. It may have been military types, as there are no co...

Re: Blackburn Beverley anyone?
XB259 represents the breed, regardless of its personal history. What if the owner kept it at Elvington, which is just up the road, boosting that museums income, and he charges people a small sum to go on board. Then in the future he uses that money, along with some from the museum for its upkeep? Ju...
