Re: 20th anniversary run. for Lindy
Now that we'll no longer see the Brunty one run, will she be doing high speed runs next year?

Re: Blackburn Beverley anyone?
I'm sure I read something a while ago saying it would be the first post war British aircraft to go into production of which there would be no complete survivors if its broken up. I'm guessing this now counts if the engines are going separate ways. It may have been military types, as there are no co...

Re: Blackburn Beverley anyone?
XB259 represents the breed, regardless of its personal history. What if the owner kept it at Elvington, which is just up the road, boosting that museums income, and he charges people a small sum to go on board. Then in the future he uses that money, along with some from the museum for its upkeep? Ju...

'Chinooking' a Bev would take several expensive trips:
Main fuselage
Boom
Wing centre section
2 x outer wings
Tail section
And then there's Engines, rear doors and undercarriage by road.

Aero Legends' Devon VP981 would be nice to see, especially in a formation with Rapides, (etc.)

Re: Season Premier 2020- 3rd May
I would most likely have gone to the season premiere show today, but now I can still give some financial support. I'll be magically transported to the Shuttleworth grandstand (in front of my TV) with a nice dinner...and I'll even have a bottle of red with me this year.

Back then, an airshow like that was probably taken for granted to a certain extent, but what we'd give to see that variety today!

Re: Aircraft seen randomly at unexpected but most welcome ti
Growing up under the flight path to RAF Benson, I saw a few unusual visitors. The most impressive was a Concorde in 1986, which was on the approach with gear down, but I judged it too high to land. It then came over again, but even higher. Never have found out why. I was used to the sound of Rolls-R...

RAF dark sea grey query
Hi guys. I know the Shackleton AEW2 and naval stuff like the Sea vixen and Buccaneer are in dark sea grey, but RAF grey/green camouflage in the '70s/'80s seems to be named as the same colour, yet it sometimes looks more of a blue-grey than the grey applied to the Shack/Bucc/Vixen. Some photos of RAF...

Re: Fort Paul Closed?
Very worrying...again. I remember when MAT closed and the headline in Flypast , showing the previous scrapping of XH124 was: ' This must not happen again.' Thus, XB259 is the last of its type, and just because it's not a bomber or a fighter, needs to be saved. Not least to highlight the British appr...

They were on a stop over, ultimately on their way to the states to be re-engined to turboprops. One is featured in an Avion DVD that I have.

Re: Gathering of Moths - OW 8 August
Yes, it was lovely day. Great turn out of both Moths and people. I know it's the holidays, but I was surprised at how many cars turned up. The only thing I was a bit miffed about at first, was when i was walking among the Moths - just after which the commentator had announced was about to become acc...

I agree with you about the old propliners such as the elegant Britannia, or the sound of a Viscount....if only. The nearest thing to those now is the Hercules, and as it's such a global success, at least one ought to be kept flying in years to come. By the way, apart from the C.3 at Coscord, did any...

Re: Daks Over Normandy - June 2019
A couple of queries regarding the Daks gathering: I know the C-53 had a different engine - or version of engine, but at least one other sounded different to me. How many had differing engines, and what were the differences, please?
Also, how many of those actually took part in D-Day?

'Plane savers' and 'Night Fright'
Just wondered if anyone is keenly following these projects? I only found out about Plane savers the other week (Youtube). Mikey McBryan from 'Ice pilots' is restoring a DC-3 to fly in Montreal on D-Day. And a team at Coventry are restoring another one (C-47) called 'Night fright' - with a big announ...
