Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

Essex “could” move back to medium by 15 December, so it looks like we could be in level two for another month/month and a half at least. https://www.essexlive.news/news/essex-news/essex-coronavirus-council-reveals-date-4629975 Not sure I can believe a figure of 692 per 100,000 when the government he...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

Personally I think the government are taking the best route at the moment (even if the application of it is a bit inconsistent). Firstly though the New Zealand/Sweden options. From a TV report the other day, it seems that New Zealand has pretty much isolated itself from the world, until such time a ...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

Although I have been critical of the government, I think their current approach of local lockdowns (however flawed) is more sensible than a blanket lockdown. Shutting down low risk areas seems to only have the effect of killing off local businesses. I cannot see what good a two week Lockdown will do...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

Did anyone see the briefing today? A member of the public asked Johnson about meeting of people between someone from Kent (tier1) and Essex (tier2), I think around childcare. He couldn’t answer what the rules were, waffled and said look at the website. These tier system was supposed to make things c...

Alcoholic drink and Pasties, 😂. I thought some of the highest risk factors were Diabetes and Obesity. These are the last places we should be promoting for people to go to.

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

Agree with what has been said, re. What happens if there is no vaccine in the spring? Without a plan will they have to revert to a controlled Herd Immunity strategy. If that is the case we are kicking this down the road at huge financial and health cost for no reason. I am however wary of the govern...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

Quite a lot of unhappy people on Facebook over Essex County Council’s decision to put Essex into Tier 2. General opinion is the council did it to get the cash hand out, although they are denying there is any cash incentive. Strangely, both Southend and Thurrock Councils, separate unitary authorities...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

I really despair. You have an incompetent government looking after their own interests, Labour trying to score political points by aligning with Sage, and Sturgeon and co. doing her best to get one up on the government. You now have another layer of self important councillors who have now been given...

Manchester are pushing back. If they don’t go into Tier 3 how can it be justified that Essex and Manchester (who have been under restrictions due to high infections), be under the same restrictions.

Essex County Council have got their wish. We will be moved to tier 2, the same as areas in the north and London. The neighbouring unitary authority (Thurrock), who’s main hospital is Basildon is remaining on Medium (Tier 1). This whole thing of flopping responsibility to Councils is going to end up ...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

Test and tracing is working to some degree otherwise we wouldn't be able to have regional lock downs. It's not right, it's not as good as it should be by now but it is better than it was from a standing start of 6 months ago. Even countries with far superior testing and tracing compared to us are s...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

I agree, we have got to this stage solely because the government have lost control of the virus (through failed track and trace) and lost the compliance of the public (through Cummings). Offloading some responsibility of restrictions onto local councils seems a cynical move to shift the focus onto l...

Two thoughts for the day - 1) Here's an idea for every family how about if we had our own covid test machines like we have diabetes test machines, they could prove that a person is clear or not - would be a persons passport and proof - would take away any doubt - what you think? 2) The flu jabs, wh...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

I would hope any future restrictions would be based on a combination of Number of infections/cases, the age group/demographic of cases, and the current hospital bed capacity in the area. Reviewed on a weekly basis. I don’t think you should be locking down a whole town or area (causing economic and s...

I really cannot get my head around what the government are doing, they have virtually destroyed their chances of getting any Tory MPs in the north at the next election. Local areas were crying out to coordinate test, track and trace. This was ignored and retained by Whitehall/Serco and their call ce...

Initially it was all about not overwhelming the NHS, now it seems to be keeping the transmission as low as possible until a vaccine arrives. I do wonder how long they can keep the compliance of the public. It must be pretty grim living in one of the enhanced lockdown areas in the north with no end i...

It will be a bit embarrassing if this turns out to be a problem with using an old version of Excel. Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

Any kind of national lockdown would be suicide for the future of the country. It was reported today that tax could go up by 7p in the pound to pay for the crisis so far. Some people strangely just want to give more and more control to the government, in the belief they know what they are doing and l...
