Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

I wonder whether Johnson regrets his blasé news conference on 3rd March.

You wonder if a different leader would have taken us on a different course.

Re: Snow Watch 2020 - 21

Snow coming down here now, which is the original band of snow heading back south. Ground is very wet from earlier so it probably won’t settle.

Re: Snow Watch 2020 - 21

Cold rain with a bit of sleet thrown in.

Doesn’t look like we’ll be getting any snow at this rate.

Still nothing in South Essex, just overcast and grey. Looks a bit brighter towards Southend way.

Edit: A few drops of sleet/rain here, apparently a few flakes coming down in Langdon Hills.

Nothing in Basildon as yet. Overnight frost has melted. Think there were a few isolated snow showers yesterday in Wickford, Ongar and Leigh on Sea.

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

Now the new variant is reported as having an increased rate of mortality. Having watched the briefing, Sir Patrick Vallance did qualify the PM's initial comment and say that it "..... may increase mortality rates" as now being reported in the BBC headlines! "Sir Patrick Vallance says there are curr...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

Now an £800 fine for more than 15 attending a party. I am beginning to think it might be worth the financial hit just to get some form of social interaction for the first time in a year! The government “lost the dressing room” a while back and the reason many people are still complying is that it is...

He also go fired from his job as Defence Secretary for a leak (which he denied). I have never seen such a dull, monotonous, uninspiring person in my l...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

I am not anti-lockdown, but it is a very blunt and damaging instrument. I have abided by the rules more than the majority of people, (not been to a pub, not seen friends, not been to any events, not gone on holiday) but I see massive problems ahead. The problem is we were too late to act from day 1,...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

Rumours are now of gradual releasing of lockdown starting in April at the earliest and restrictions continuing into June. Don’t want any Holidaymakers getting in the way of the G7 jolly to St Ives & Carbis Bay now, (or am I just being cynical)? My parents in their 70’s contacted their GP on Monday, ...

I'm guessing your local MP is Conservative? Yes. My parents sent the same email to their Conservative MP, and got a response, based more on local hospital facts and figures, “he said he believed now wasn’t the time for a change of leadership.” He didn’t jump to the defence of Johnson as much as my ...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

I can’t see us getting back to anywhere near our old normal this year. I hope I am wrong but I see spring 2022 as being more realistic. I can see come February, they will say that Schools can go back, but cannot release any further restrictions until the end of March. End of March they will reveal e...

Yesterday: https://twitter.com/skynews/status/1345793402215014400?s=21 It’s important that everyone reading this thread understands that such incompetence in their own jobs would have had them booted out for gross misconduct. Johnson surely has to go. You can’t look at that video, and then today’s ...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

Johnson is the main problem. Public compliance fell off a cliff when he backed Cummings to the hilt. Rather than a gradual exit to lockdown people saw double standards and decided to use their “instincts,”. We crashed out of lockdown with no plan other than a flaky test and trace. Eat out to Help ou...

I can understand (but don’t agree with) why someone would breach COVID regulations to go out and buy food, I can understand why someone would breach them to to see a loved one, I sort of get why a group of young people will breach them to hold a rave, but I’m really struggling with this one ... htt...

So monstrously predictable: https://twitter.com/paulbranditv/status/1345075868088020995?s=21 This is the Tories that we’re threatening to take schools to the High Court just 14 days ago for closing slightly early for Christmas. I didn’t have any holiday this year, a weekend away trip to Northampton to watch rugby with friends was cancelled. The only things I did was a day trip to Brandon forest (to take the Mountain Bike out) and a day trip to Bawdsey. I have nothing planned for 2021. Whilst social distancing, leaving cont...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

I can’t see how much more lockdown you can have from Tier 4 unless you start having the virtual house arrest that we had earlier in the year. i.e only one form or exercise/no support bubble, but that would be catastrophic for mental health at this time of year. Schools should be shut, otherwise we a...
